another crazy points system

In 1993 the first heat only paid points to the top 6, F1 style (9,6,4,3,2,1). The second heat paid full points to the top 10 overall only

Remember the original format for 1993 was supposed to be “1982 AMSCAR style”, a three heat format with one race for 2L cars, one race for V8 cars (plus the 2.5ltr M3s), both paying top 6 points only, and a combined final for full points for the top 10 overall finishers

After round 1 not enough 2L cars fronted for round 2 so they combined the classes for heat 1 but still paid seperate points to the top 6 V8’s and 2L cars, then had the combined final. This format stayed in place for the rest of the year, even when more 2L cars started appearing ( and more indicating they would race if the seperate heat 1 came back). This played a big part in the completely seperate Australian Manufacturers Championship being setup for 1994 for 2L cars, and the war began.

You have Frosty mixed up with Tander in those Townsville results.

It was Tander's first round win since Bathurst in 2011. HRT qualified 1-2 for the first race but both Tander and Courtney got caught up with Lowndes. They would finish 1-2 in the second race, though.

https://www.touringcartimes.com/2014/07/05/garth-tander-ends-drought-with-1-2-finish-for-hrt/

It was the only Townsville weekend run over 500km and the only one with three races, with two 125km races on Saturday and a single 250km race on Sunday. Whincup did most of the winning.

Getty Images (https://www.foxsports.com.au/breaking-news/all-the-action-from-v8-qualifying-and-racing-on-sunday-at-the-castrol-townsville-500/news-story/06829d548554d7f81e9361840ded4168)

Jason Bright had pole on Sunday after Lowndes was given a grid penalty for his incident with the HRT cars in the first race.

This will help .

Also, just looking at the celebratory bonnet on the HRT cars at Hidden Valley, 50 round wins for a team back then seemed like such a momentous achievement. Back when the record for drivers was still 37, did we expect to ever see two drivers (Whincup and Lowndes) reach 50 themselves, and have a team (Triple Eight) approaching 100 round wins?

Didn't realise that 888 made it that far. I'm also guessing DJR/Penske (do we count them together?) have punched above Walkinshaw HRT?

Listening to Noonan's podcast with Caruso just the other day, he mentioned that Caruso actually finished at the top of 3 rounds back in 2016?
Any chance, if you have the stats readily available, you could post current race wins, round wins for teams and drivers?
Doesn't have to be too detailed, just the numbers. Maybe there's an older thread we can hijack?

FC, I believe Round 9 of the 1994 ATCC was held on this day as well. It saw the first race win for Tony Longhurst in a V8 and the final ATCC round win for Alan Jones.

The 2005 Hidden Valley round saw the first race win for the second Walkinshaw team under the HSV Dealer Team guise. It was also Tander's first race win since the 2000 Bathurst win.

This was when they were still running what looked like an alternate HRT livery proposal, rather than their own look which came out at Sandown.

I can't remember what happened to put Skaife down to 26th in Race 3, but without that HRT and HSVDT would have finished 1-2-3-4 for the round. As it was, DJR finished 4th and 5th for the weekend.
