Is anybody planning on going? I am. It's the 25th running of the event and Sir Jack Brabham will have a tribute of some kind. More details to follow.

I've just found out Jon Faine (mornings presenter 774ABC radio Melbourne) and I have something in common. He is someone who goes to the PI Historics and avoids going to the GP too! I feel dirty! He's had an anti-gp slant, in his broadcasting, along with the rest of the station, for as long as I can remember. I'm not committed about the GP staying at AP (as long as it's in Australia, somewhere), but his, and the stations rhetoric about the race gets me wounds up to the point that even if the race is a rort, I'm ok with it.

Will check for you GT... will be at least a week though as other categories have to come first.

I only spent the afternoon there.

Disappointing the ex-Tom Sneva March, wasn't able to get going. Hopefully the owner will have it humming tomorrow. But I'm not holding my breath from the chat I had with him.

In the same class (Q,R, F5000) it was funny seeing the ex-Berger Benetton "trundle" at the back. I know amateur are driving these cars. But the irony is that the BMW is the most powerful engine in F1 history!

Does anyone (Only Sonic maybe?) know the history of the blue Group A BMW? It was a striking car, I thought.

Talking about Sunday.

Ha d roam of most of the circuit. But mostly spent my time at the entry to Lukey Heights

Disappointing the Indycar wasn't there at all today, it even left an empty spot in the garage.

Disappointing the Benetton was parked on display, and not running around, even if it wasn't going at full bore. Would've been nice to take a pic of it.

In the second Q, R, F5000 race. I saw the red/white Ralt that spun in Siberia, and caused the yellow at the end. It's always exciting to see a spill. Went wide passing/lapping cars, then slid off wider. I'm always surprised to see anyone drop it there.

The race for the Group A win was pretty good. #18 Skyline finally worked it's way to the lead late in the race, only to drop it at Honda. Still a fair win from the ex-Gibbs GTR though.

That converted Ralt sportscar? Once I got used to it, liked it, Hammered the field. Very fast. Probably could go even quicker than it did.

only 1 or 2 safety cars for the whole day, ran just about perfectly to time and a credit to the organising team!!

there was one incident where the ambulance went out but I don't know why... saw the car come back on the track and it didn't look damaged so perhaps the driver felt crook? anyone with any info on this one??

starting to look thru some pics now from the day

Did you get any photos of Duncan Mackellar's #29 McLaren M8E (Matey) before it expired?

When I went to the motogp testing on Tuesday, I met a bloke who was competing this weekend. He'd come from Tasmania with his caravan, that he converted to a car transporter as well (Engineering genius!), on Monday. He said he'd parked his car/caravan on the road alongside the circuit (Where we were chatting), had stayed, and was planning to stay for 3 days, before moving to the caravan park.

Brilliant! I the past day, I have considered just plonking my car there and sleeping in it

Does anybody know if there's any vacancies at any motels in the area? Please. Help. Even if it's at Wonthaggi!

We're actually REALLY well represented - just checked the full entry list, my god - what a show - why aren't I going!!!???!

Anyway - I'm good friends with Frosty in his Silver Nc Torana (quick rig!), and the guys going over with him - looks like some of the other Nb regulars are there too like the RX2, Rory O'Neill you'll know from TCM, Bryant and his Rallye Sprint & T140. A few good R's & Sports too - Ralt, ASP, Chevron's.
Most of them I've met through the old man but don't know that well. Only their cars!

I'll be watching natsoft like a hawk!

Mr.McPhillamy Posted - 05 Mar 2014 : 20:20:32
I know a few guys heading over - was hoping to get down there myself, missed the boat though!

Watch out for the SA crew!!

i'd imagine they do but more likely the car stays down here and they work for the week and come back down the next weekend.
