Only because in 1917 and 1918 the race was suspended due to the US's involvement in WW1 and from 1941-45 auto racing was suspended across the USA following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor until the end of WW2.
Glad to hear that Simona is ok. 30 years ago and she is probably another fatality at the speedway.....
"Aerodynamics is for those who cannot manufacture good engines" - Enzo Ferrari.
30!? Try anything pre Dallara or safer barrier. Add Ho Ping Tung to the would be fatalities too - body breaking hit is the turn 1 flick. Giebler had an identical crash in a Panoz in '08 and got some bad chest injuries.
"It was dry for the second go-around. Grice, nervous, worrying about his Bathurst jinx, ran 2:25.9. The amazing Brock, using every last centimetre of bitumen, yet keeping the car straight and balanced and at full noise, came back with a staggering 2:20.0 as if to say: "Match that". And people just shook their heads, bit their lips and wondered who would be second".
Wasn't what i was exspecting but it was a ok finish pretty wild really...

* = Oriol Servia demoted to sixth after being found to have passed Scott Dixon after the final yellow came out.
I really thought the Penske cars and the Chip Ginassi cars would be the ones battling it out for the win!
But it wasn't to be with Will Power being punished with a stupid pit stop early in the race!!! which ended his race because he fell so far behind...and couldn't get that back. So once again Australian's didn't win hopefully one of them win next year afer a dissapointing race for them...Plus there's always the Title to win!! Hopefully one of them take that out instead!!
