Some of the country's lowest-paid workers could lose almost a quarter of their weekly wages in changes quietly introduced by the Abbott government.

Thousands of workers will be hit by the changes, which will strip $172 to $225 a week from pockets of full-time contract cleaners of government buildings.

The regulations are a form of collective bargaining introduced by Labor that lift the wages of workers hired by businesses that win government cleaning contracts by $4.53 to $5.93 an hour above the minimum wage. This takes a wage from $664 to $836 for a 38-hour week at level 1, and from $724 to $950 at level 3.

Good thing brave Tony is going to take it from the workers and give it to Gina in the form of tax cuts.

What begins with W and killed Howard's 2007 election chances? No, not George W.

It will be rebranded Phoenix Workchoices, as they are supposedly dead, buried and cremated.

Sinidinos is in this crap up to his neck.

Which makes it even worse because he has on more than one occasion slammed labor for one thing or another but when it comes to lining his pockets with 20 million he is suddenly doing deals with labor people.

X politicians should be banned from sitting on any boards, lobbying governments and anything else that involves government business.
These lowlife scumbags are ruining this country and it doesn't matter which side of the fence they sit on

Should that work the other way too Col. Should business board members be allowed to become MPs?

I was watching the Bolt Report yesterday (there was nothing else on) and Mr Bolt said that there is a big divide in Parliament House, stating that the ALP watch the biased ABC News 24, and that the Coalition watch Sky News. In that same breath, the anti biased Andrew Bolt suggested that they should all watch Sky News, as that is the better service.

And now we have this:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-03-24/brandis-defends-right-to-be-a-bigot/5341552

I could be wrong, but aren't we trying to Close The Gap, and not making it wider?

Yes board members should, but if elected they will either have to resign that position or declare it. I can't imagination anyone not resigning.
It's in the after life of their political career that they shouldn't be able do anything with the government business.
Look through the boards of a heap of different government organisations and even non government organisations and you will see them chock full of ex politicians who when they left power left us in a worse position than the previous government.
they got these positions through favours given to the companies and then as far as the government organisations go they just appoint some dead **** party hack

Like wise, the royal commission into to pink bats exists just to score political points.

Ford fans be proud. History of Australian motor racing shows Ford has been and will always be superior. They have to slow them down when they get serious about racing. The Phase 4 scared the **** out of people, they banned it. Sierra gets called on a technicality, Falcon EF "...had its wings clipped to make Holden part of the show", AU not allowed to show it's potential, Falcon BF gets clipped. Mustang Is so good Supercars made up a rule and gets a bag of cement in the roof, and it still wins.

Oh, almost forget about the elephant in the corner, the second rising of the Workchoices Phoenix!!

Tip, if you can get hold of your Super, get it now because Superannuation will be next!!

New Commodore Hey! So you used your own money? Would you like to buy a used bridge?

This seems like a good start for the issues with CSG mining. Hopefully a few other things related to it a reigned in within the next few months.

quote:
The NSW government has announced a six-month freeze on processing new applications for coal-seam gas exploration licences, while the cost of applying will soar from $1000 to $50,000, in the latest shake-up for the industry.
Premier Barry O'Farrell told Parliament on Wednesday the freeze until September 26 would allow an audit of existing coal-seam gas licences and pending applications to be carried out before a new assessment-and-allocation regime was put in place.
Simply and utterly incredible.

''Not only will this process reflect the best practice we demand of the natural-gas industry, it will also reflect the expectations that the people of this state have towards the use of our natural resources,'' he said.
Mr O'Farrell said the Labor government in 2002 set the cost of a coal-seam gas application fee at $1000, which was ''simply and utterly incredible''. He said the Minister for resources and energy, Anthony Roberts, would immediately raise the fee to $50,000.
The announcement followed a decision by Mr Roberts to refuse five coal-seam gas exploration licence applications being sought by the company Grainger Energy, covering 43,000 square kilometres of the Riverina.
He said Grainger Energy has one owner-director, was formed six days before its application was lodged, had no history of conducting petroleum exploration activities and ''has submitted a manifestly deficient application''.
Mr Roberts has also asked another company, Leichhardt Resources, to show cause why its three licences - near Moree and Nowra and between Bylong and Denham - should not be cancelled.
''We want an application process that sends a clear message that the Liberals and Nationals government will only accept best-practice standards,'' Mr Roberts said on Wednesday. ''Speculators or cowboys need not apply.''
Last year the O'Farrell government introduced a ban on CSG activity within two kilometres of residential areas and in sensitive areas used by horse breeders and the wine industry. But it has resisted a call from Labor to extend the ban to water-catchment areas.
Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham said the party welcomed the announcement of a licence freeze and audit but said the Premier was ''tinkering at the edges''.
''The key issue remains the right of farmers to say no to CSG activity on their land,'' he said.
The national exploration body agreed with the O'Farrell government's stand.
