A surefire, 100% guaranteed way to have people not listen to you.
If you can't get a message across peacefully then don't bother because no-one will listen to you.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/may/21/tony-abbotts-daughter-did-not-have-to-pay-for-60000-design-degree?CMP=twt_gu

Tony Abbott's daughter was given scholarship for $60,000 design degree

Exclusive: Frances Abbott was awarded a chairman's scholarship for bachelors degree at prestigious Sydney institute where a donor to her father sits as chair of board of governors

Nose in the bloody trough. No wonder Abbott doesn't care about Uni fees.

When's that age of entitlement actually ending?

How do you know she wasn't awarded the scholarship on merit?

That's right - you don't!

You wouldn't have a clue.

Funny, it still violates Abbott's ministerial standards.

quote:
The ministerial standards, which were written by Tony Abbott in 2013, encourage ministers to avoid the appearance of potential conflicts arising from family members' interests.

“Ministers must have regard to the pecuniary and other private interests of members of their immediate families, to the extent known to them, as well as their own interests, in considering whether a conflict or apparent conflict between private interests and official duty arises,” the standards say.

And even more deliciously juicy, the director and Abbott had a history of gifts.

quote:
In a previous declaration Abbott said that he received gifts from Taylor.

On 16 February 2012, Abbott declared a gift of “clothing from Mr Les Taylor”. On 23 April 2013 a further gift of “suits from Mr Les Taylor” was also declared.

Hmm, I'm sure a guy who gives me expensive suits as a gift would be totally impartial.

Funnily enough, they decline to say exactly how many were awarded and when. Apparently they don't publicly award scholarships.

http://whitehouse-design.edu.au/courses/bachelor-of-design/scholarships.html

Question is, how did she receive such a secretive award?

Now SMH has its claws in it, too.

The pecuniary interest register shows Mr Abbott received suits from Mr Taylor in February 2012 and April 2013.

"While the exact cost of the gifts were not known, it was clear they were higher than the $300 threshold and were appropriately disclosed with Mr Abbott providing all the information required by an opposition member," Mr Abbott's spokeswoman said.

Frances applied to study at the institute and based on her application and art portfolio she was awarded a scholarship in 2011.

So... no public scholarships... but Abbott's daughter receives one from a regular donor... hmm.

Back in 2011, no scholarships existed!

Its a disgusting abuse of his former and current position!!

"scholarships

Whitehouse does not currently offer scholarships to gain a place into the Bachelor of Design, however a FEE-HELP loan to assist with part or all of eligible students’ tuition fee is available. Students may borrow up to the amount of the tuition fee being charged by the provider for the unit of study. For more information on FEE-Help please visit www.goingtouni.gov.au.

At the discretion of Whitehouse, a scholarship for further study may be offered during the academic year to students who have formally commenced their studies and show exceptional ability and dedication.

Thanks to the generosity of the Accademia Italiana Arte Moda Design, graduate students of Whitehouse may be eligible for a scholarship to continue their design studies at the International Accademia Italiana Arte Moda Design in Florence, Italy.

The scholarship scheme was established in 1995 and is offered exclusively to students of the Whitehouse Institute. The experiences of past recipients confirms the value of the scholarships, transporting young designers from Sydney into a global arena and providing the opportunity for meaningful careers in the design industry both in Australia and overseas.
Workshop Scholarship

A scholarship is awarded to the most talented student from each of the High School Workshops, for the one week summer or winter Workshop."

http://whitehouse-design.edu.au/courses/bachelor-of-design/scholarships.html

No mention of scholarships not being available in 2011...

Just says none currently.

LG, you aren't very technologically savvy. I linked to the site archived in 2011.

She was only the 2ND EVER recipient of a scholarship which was NEVER open to the public.
