Bikies and gangs have been attacking more people for years. I support our troops in Iraq but the terror scare here was ****ing Tampa #2. What a bloody beat up.

More people die each hour from tobacco... and Abbott opposed plain packaging.

Now here's the real thing that will ruin thousands of Aussie lives; criminal University costs.

It'd be interesting to read what you think of the terror scare here now that the 2 task force policemen were attacked and the sailor was also attacked on his way to work.

I don't think there is much to think about the incident in bold because... it never happened.

I'd say they weren't the first police to be attacked by a crazy suspect. A suspect who had no plans to behead anyone.

No evidence there was a plan to behead anyone?

Was there any prior evidence that two planes were going to be crashed into the World Trade Centre?

You really are kidding yourself with your left wing, bleeding heart rubbish. Wake up and smell the roses! The threat from Muslim extremists is a worldwide crisis. Leaders from around the world didn't just attend a special assembly of the UN Security Council for the fun of it.

So Australia under a year of Abbott and now we're going to have the 2ND WORST unemployment rate in the Asia-Pacific. Too bad Abbott is distracting everyone from the current unemployment crisis with his terrorism carry on.

I don't hear any complaints about the senate inquiry into the Neumann government.

To respond to Bruce in the NRL thread: it is probably the single hardest loss I have had to deal with at Souths to lose Bully. Much worse than Sam Burgess as he didn't symbolise Souths as Bully did. I think a lot will underestimate just how much a loss he will be to Souths but I fully understand how engrossed he is with NZ and I think given that he will make the successful transition that others haven't.

There is one thing I have to ask. With some of the inane comments that Jackie Lambie has made in the past few weeks, is she this eras Pauline Hanson?

Most likely, however I would hate for her to be treated like Hanson, she was our last political prisoner thanks to Howard, Abbott & et el, they took her out because Aussies were liking what she as saying, I certainly did, not all of it, but a lot of it.

I am not sure about Lambie though

Gough Whitlam died this morning, aged 98.

A great man of great intellect and dignity who changed Australia and Australian politics for the better, despite his lack of intellect in matters financial. It's ironic that he is probably best remembered for those words: "Well may we say 'God save the Queen... because nothing will save the Governor General.' " He was way, way more than that. A long life, well lived.

It is not the time to dwell on his mistakes but to praise the achievements he did do - social welfare measures, medicare, free university education...RIP Gough.
