Dont tell me that Gillard didnt have a sniff of it and that's why she has called the election early.

So not only did she blindside most of her party on the election, she has done it because he knew one of hew filthy union leaches was about to go down

She really is a piece of work, i only hope this is a catalyst for an earlier election......

Early election? Paliament won't be desolved until mid August.

Doesn't matter if Thompson gets turffed now, The Libs still don't have the numbers.

Ford fans be proud. History of Australian motor racing shows Ford has been and will always be superior. They have to slow them down when they get serious about racing. The Phase 4 scared the **** out of people, they banned it. Sierra gets called on a technicality, Falcon EF "...had its wings clipped to make Holden part of the show", AU not allowed to show it's potential, Falcon BF gets clipped. Mustang Is so good Supercars made up a rule and gets a bag of cement in the roof, and it still wins.

I don't see that Gillard announcing the election date seven months before it's due gives her any advantage at all. IMO, announcing the election, then Craig Thomson being arrested the next day is an embarrassment to her and a bit of a free kick to Tony Abbott. She was asked today "Did you have any prior knowledge of Craig Thomson's arrest today?" and her answer was "Of course not." We can choose to believe or not believe her, and in this instance, I tend to believe her. I believe that she wasn't give any prior warning of today's arrest, but OTOH, Thomson was requested to attend Victorian Police HQ to be charged just before Christmas - and he declined. He would have known that a tap on the shoulder from the police wouldn't be long in coming after that - and she would have known that too.

By the time the election finally comes around, the Craig Thomson thing might still be an issue in Dobell, but I doubt it will have mean much anywhere else. It'll just be another little thing in the pile of other bad calls by this Prime Minister. "The Member for Dobell has my full support", and all that.

Did they get the right Craig Thompson though, as it may have been the "other one" that got arrested for fraud?

Back when we actually had money to spend? (not to mention the birth rate had declined to almost in the negative - hence why all you old blokes are in the **** when you retire because there's not enough young ones to fill the coffers to pay for you....)

Aaahhh yes, those were the days....

That's one theory. Here's a few more:
http://www.standard.net.au/story/1269643/she-can-see-clearly-now-the-date-is-set/?cs=8
So, she's wearing glasses (well, new glasses - she's worn glasses before) because (1)This time she means business, (2)She's courting the youth market, (3)She's campaining to the hipster voters, or (4)She has been having issues with her contacts. I'd say that 4 is pretty correct. She's been having trouble with Kevin, and Craig, and Peter and plenty of others - but I'm sure it's nothing sinister. New glasses, plus a change of hair colour and shape and a tweak on the makeup all on the same day. We'd better not discuss it too closely though. We wouldn't want to be accused of being misogynists.

But that's not the point though is it. It was a an election sweetener. Just like all middle class welfare is.

Funny, you blokes are dead set against taxing the big miners so we have money to spend. You laughed and cheered when Rudd was rolled and the mining tax was watered down.

Yet you want baby bonus so that we get a few million more bogan babies to work for the dole.

It just gets better for labor!!!

Chris Evans and Nicola roxon have both resigned, and talk that Robert mclennand will go too.

Add in slipper and Thompson and it would have to be the worst start to an election campaign she could have imagined.

Add to that the talk that she knew about the imminent arrest of Thompson and it will surely have to be the end of her.

If it wasnt so serious it would be funny, but these clowns are running the country !

I'm loving this. Can't wait until Abbott gets his mitts on the economy and unemployment skyrockets and growth tanks. That's what you want right? Because it sure happened in Queensland with Screwman.
