Historic Winton, organised by the Austin 7 club is running next weekend 26th & 26th May. Expecting more than 400 entries across cars and bikes. Should be good for racing, spectating and just checking out the toys.
same boat in Vic Mr.Mc... at Sandown meeting today we had 10 turn up for the historic race... really looking forward to heading up to Winton on Fri after work!!
for anyone who is trying to find something to do tomorrow, if you are in the region come to Sandown... it is free for the spectators and they are opening up Dandy Rd as well so you can drive in and if the weather isn't the best it doesn't matter so much... c'mon show some support!!
Well lads I have finally finished going through my pics from the weekend... feel free to link across any that you like (seeing what you guys like helps me too and get a feel for what Joe Public is wanting)
I'll prob link a few up through the week too as time permits...
2 folders.. 1 with the Group N's (I shoot for their magazine so did them first) and the 2nd folder with all the other classes... hope you enjoy...
and appreciated the message that the drivers were ok... as you can tell from the grainy pic I was quite some distance away and didn't spot this until I saw the red flags and went looking to see why... this pic was shot from (short circuit) turn 1...
I had a grandstand view of it as we were driving back from checking another car that had stopped on the back straight and were pointed straight at the sweeper when they came together.
For those unaware I'm the one in Yellow going to the driver of the upside down car, the car had it's radiator cap knocked clean off so was spraying boiling water everywhere and also had a fuel line come off one of the carby's so was leaking fuel as well until I put my thumb over the end of the hose to stop it while supporting the driver and car until the rest of the cavalry arrived.
The three Safety Trucks at Winton usually run a crew of three, I usually drive Safety 1 which is based on the infield around the old Pit Lane, my front seat passenger you can see coming to back me up and the backseat passenger is already around the other side of the Ute checking the driver of the other car which luckily had landed back on it's wheels.
The photo was taken I reckon about 20 seconds after the collision occurred.
EDIT to get around the double post "issue".
Enjoy the following from YouTube from the weekend.
