Pither had a good clean drive with half decent results. But he's nowhere near as good a driver as Garth Tander and Boost Mobile was unhappy enough to kick him out.

Boost doesn't care so much about results all they want is media coverage. Stanaway gives them that, Pither probably wouldn't if he was signed up next year.

I think it's really hard to judge Stanaway's performance again this year. This is only his second year and last year he was stuck with a team who (allegedly) didn't provide a good learning environment.

He's stuck in the same boat at GRM, driving alongside Golding who's got even less experience as a driver (though at least Golding did have a good environment alongside Tander last year - and that's showed with a good improvement this year).

If this neck injury is as bad as it looks, I think it might be the end of his career in the main game.

edit: I wrote Rulo when I meant Golding

I think that's accurate. Tander provided stability and learning, whereas in the current GRM pair they have a lot of inexperience.

It will be interesting to see what eventuates.

McLaughlin later described the final corner: "I don't know what happened there. I just plucked it in first, gave it some jandal and **** yeah!"

Compared to Mr. McLaughlin who two races on debut with GRM in a VF Commodore on his way to 10th in the championship, Mr. Stanaway doesn't seem that skilled...

In his first seven solo races as a rookie, McLaughlin finished 17th, 6th, 9th, 8th, 8th, 8th, 1st.

Meanwhile, Stanway in his second season with the same world class GRM team with the same world class engineer Richard Holloway is nowhere near that!

Stanaway spent the last six years before Supercars in Europe on the path to Formula 1. His most recent drive being a Formula Renault which is an open wheeled car with similar engine power to a supercar but less than half the weight and heaps of aero.

That was always going to be a difficult adjustment compared to Scotty Mac who was winning championships in NZ V8s and Super2. Not only similar cars but also racing on the same circuits as supercars.

If he aims to be a future champion in this category, then itís almost time he showed some winning attitude instead of just attitude.
