The alternative is to run shorter Supercar races in order to fit into the 30 minutes of racing allocated by network 10.

This is too little, too late I'm afraid. They (including Brad) took the quick cash injection without looking at it from the overall long-term health of the sport.

It was possibly the only feasible way forward.

You get absolutely slaughtered if you have a gripe about the deal, pretty unfair when people have no idea about someone's financial position.

As for Brads best mate, he can't be much of a best friend if he turned down the opportunity to watch his son race live. Like seriously, give the ticket to me I'd gladly come

I agree. The teams would've survived, of that I'm sure. If we did lose one or two smaller teams, I'm sure somebody would've come along and bought their REC's. They all just saw the money short term. Besides wasn't Channel 7's offer for that deal rumoured to be quite good? I know the last minute throw together one for 2013 and 2014 was ****, but I do believe their offer for 2015 and beyond was good.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Foxtel deal is good in that you get to watch every session if you have it, with no ads. That's great. But the Ten part of it is what's ****. They do a great job on their six regular rounds, but the highlights rounds are crap. I think at the absolute minimum, FTA should show full races, even if they are delayed.

7 were paying about half the annual amount they paid on previous contract.

I agree with DJRford. The main thing is that they shouldn't feel that their 2015 offer wasn't enough as Supercars should not have expected 7 to match or better the Foxtel offer.

Ok maybe **** wasn't the right word for it, but it was less than ideal for the series given it was only signed a short time before Clipsal after a lot of uncertainty. The money was obviously not even close to what the series wanted, but they had no other options at the time. I'll change my term from **** to less than ideal.

Are you sure?
In the 2 years leading up to the pay tv deal, 4 teams handed REC's back to supercars as they couldn't afford to continue and couldn't sell them. Supercars put some REC's up for sale a little later and there were no buyers. After the pay tv deal, LDM took an REC back saying they could now afford to run a second car and T8 purchased one off Supercars. Would Penske have saved DJR without the TV deal? Would they have run 2 cars last year without the TV money?
