Maurizio was just sacked to make it appear they are rectifying the problem.

Yeah I know, I just thought the drivers championship was lost due to Vettel errors.

The reason Ferrari didn't win is Lewis Hamilton.

Definitely a factor. Lewis drove brilliantly in 2018 and thoroughly deserved the title, but it's not his fault, nor Arrivabene's fault that Vettel stuffed up more than a rookie.

I don't know what you guys are on about. If the other guy is credited with the gains Ferrari made with their engine, and there's been some organisational slip ups within the team. The after a good run of 4 years, it's fair enough if there's a change in management.

You guys make out like Vettel cost Ferrari a wdc and lost by something like 10pts. He was second by 88pts! Even if you gave him the points from the likely positions he'd have got at the points of his blunders, and Bottas is was allowed to win in Russia, Hamilton still wins the championship with a race to spare. The MB was that good.

I'm thinking we could move this here:
http://www.v8central.com/snitz3403/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42041

Lewis was all class from Monza onwards, not sure Arrivabene or Seb could've done much about it.

Again, you guys are not demonstrating any context.

karter brings ups a yt video highlighting all of Vettel's mistakes, without bringing any clarification (No surprise there).

Wrighty lists a bunch of races he remembers Vettel making a mistake and makes a sweeping statement of a "Fair whack of points in that bunch" without even bothering to show much many points he could've thrown away.

With most of these howlers, it wouldn't have cost him a win or even finishing ahead of Hamilton. He had the same amount of dnf as Hamilton (1). Despite having a mistake riddled year, he still accumulated the same amount of podiums as Raikkonen (12).

One of the podiums was the win at Albert Park, which is one of the all time great freebie wins he benefitted from thank to Hamilton/MB pit strategy. A 14pt turnaround.

He was nowhere near winning the championship despite all the errors he gets derided for.

Germany: he dropped 32 points. Monza, 14. That's more than half the deficit in just two stuffups.

Yeah.

Baku he speared off when in front of Hamilton. Hamilton won and he finished 4th.
France he speared into Rosberg at the start and recovered to 5th when he wouldíve finished well higher - 2nd, at worst 3rd.
He ballsed up Japan too when he spun on his q3 lap and qualified down and then crashed into Max. Gave away at least 10 points there.

Plenty of evidence to suggest that without those mistakes, plus the ones that Karter listed, Seb wouldíve been well in the hunt.

I figured it out to be 82 points he potentially cost himself and thatís not including the points Hamilton gained because of Sebís mistakes.

So with the extra 7 points Vettel handed Lewis in Germany, there's the championship. Add Monza for a buffer. And more, no doubt, if anyone could be bothered adding them up.

The funny part is that Vettel himself admits Lewis simply outdrove him, it's only the Vettel/Ferrari fanbois who can't.

Iím not a huge Lewis fan (as a bloke), clearly heís a gifted freak behind the wheel.

But this year we were lucky to have had the rare scenario of 2 4x world champions battling hard to win their 5th.

And we have cars which were extraordinarily similar in performance. Both had their strengths and weaknesses and both performed better at different times if the year. The difference was we had one champion outpoint the other comprehensively and as Karter said, Vettel admitted as much.
