Whincup was on an out lap with cold tyres. He wasn't going fast enough for anyone following to set the fastest lap of the race.

What happened is Chaz was held up by Tim Slade, so he went into the pits which gave him clean air. Whincup did the same to try and cover Chaz but the mustang overtook almost immediately and left Whincup for dead - building a gap of more than half a lap over the next several laps.

Where we watching the same telecast?

Mostert shadowed the 88 for at least 4 laps before he went past!

Wrong. Mostert set his 1:55.9 on lap 12, which was Whincup's outlap. He got past on lap 14. Go and look at NatSoft lap charts and times.

T8 also put in some fairly average performances in the early to mid part of 2015 when the FG X was introduced coincidentally.

2015 had a new tyre compound and T8 was blazing fast with a car or two on the podium at every race - and their third car usually way back in the field after of a tyre exploded.

Then they figured out the tyre failures were because the pressures were too low and they raised the pressures - after that T8 was slow and struggling mid season. They couldn’t get their setup working and still had failures - just less of than early in the year.

Then Supercars switched back to the old tyre and Whincup responded by finishing just about every race on the podium, usually the top step, and Lowndes/SVG were nearly as good.

(Part of the reason T8 did so well late season was because Frosty was the only other driver with a really good car and he was driving extremely conservative to protect his massive championship lead - he would win the championship as long as he never crash out - it worked, that was his only championship win).

What race are we talking about? All I know is he set several fastest laps during the weekend, and I could be talking about any one of them, And I really don't care, i am just sick of the whingeing coming from 888, they have had a dream run for over a decade, and you know what, a he'll of a lot of Holden guys I know are actually enjoying seeing them get beaten? That's the funny part about this whole 888 performance thread, they are at fault, not the team's that have got their heads around the new damper regs, Its 888s fault!

JW is a part owner of 888 and as their #1 driver, i would put more creditability on what he says than anybody else in that outfit. He is a 7 times champ and has more than a clue!

But the same happened last year with WAU. They were nowhere and then the new Commodore comes out and they started doing well again even though now they have gone back to their old ways.

Perhaps the dreaded HRT Hudu has hit 888 and they are systematically engineering the speed out of their cars, history repeating? Ha ha

When Holden illegally owned a race team you mean?

Going off topic, and a long way back in time, Holden never ‘illegally owned a race team. Back on topic, T8 certainly seem to have lost their way with the change back to the single springs, but they’ll find their way back up the pointy end of the grid with the Mustangs

Only a Muppet would believe that Holden never owned HRT!

888 will be back at the front now that the Mustang is being handi-capped because of the sooks at Holden/888 being beaten!

They are pathetic and a blight on the series! Typical HRT crap! Can't beat their competition on the track so they get the rules changed!
