Inspiration has come from a visit to the halal butchery in my neighborhood. I'm not using halal meat as I have plenty of home kill beef in the freezer. Also cheating by using packaged spice mix. Anyway, it smells fantastic.

You should visit a halal slaughterhouse. See how inspired you feel then.

In fact here you go. See how ****ing humane is your favorite ideology:

How about an animal taking 15 minutes to die. Bet that makes it taste real good, yeah?

I don't have a problem with buying halal meat in NZ or how the animal is slaughtered.

The vast majority of abattoirs in NZ are halal certified. It's likely that a significant amount of meat sold here or exported meets halal requirements but simply is not labelled as such.

However I have no knowledge how the farmer or butcher treated the beast that provided my meat direct from the farm tonight.

"WHAT ABOUT EXEMPTIONS FOR HALAL SLAUGHTER?

In New Zealand there is no exemption to the requirement for pre-slaughter stunning, unlike in some other countries. Halal slaughter requires that the animal dies from the “halal cut” to the throat, i.e. that the pre-slaughter stun is not powerful enough to kill the animal. In premises that undertake halal slaughter in New Zealand, reversible electrical stunning is used to ensure that animals are rendered unconscious instantaneously and remain unconscious at the time of slaughter, thus complying with both animal welfare and halal requirements."

If you believe that every animal is stunned when cut you're living in fairyland. It takes a couple of seconds of research to discover the truth.

But then unnecessary pain and suffering are the trademark of your favourite cult aren't they?

And here's a couple of questions. When only 3% of the population want animals tortured to death, why are 80% of animals killed that way?

Why does 100% of our population pay for halal certification on our food when only 3% want it and why should non muslims be forced to pay it at all?

Where does the money go?

I was prepared to let this thread go on but I see the personal accusations and attacks are creeping in.
Either change the posting attitudes or see this one locked as well.

Exactly. We've developed humane slaughter practices, but because 3% of the population don't want animals slaughtered in a humane way, 80% of meat is now halal tortured. (The other 20% is probably pork)

It goes back to what we were saying about a small minority running the country.

The vast majority don't require halal certification yet it's there on almost everything and we all pay for it.

Would any other religion get away with taxing the food we eat?

The correct answer is: Champions of whining about zb's alleged straight line speed advantage.

You think Holden were going to whine about having a speed advantage? Really?

Mind you, when it comes to whining they've set new records this year!

Ha ha.

Living in the past. It's not me that complains about Holdens not being altered in years gone by.

This year, Ford wins again by having so many fans whining about the Mustang have its advantage decreased.
