well the WSS came to rural QLD, there was plenty of hype around the event, huge fields at all previous events,
we started with 19 cars nominating, ended up with 16 cars.

positives:
huge crowd,
great for the town
Big Screen

negatives:
small field
track prep (there was a speed bump in turn 1/2)
drivers not having good things to say
dust on the infield.
limited passing (except over taking)
small support categories. 11 Production Sedans and 4 junior F500's
announcer preaching about having the best drivers in the world

I would hope the WSS will do this again next year.
time will tell

Over the years I've seen or been involved in so many big shows that didn't quite cut the mustard.
The outgoings are massive compared to a normal show and you really need to have spectators at the absolutely overflowing level.
In saying that, some of the 'name' competitors seem to forget where they started and don't do much at all to help promote the event.
They also forget that these country tracks are generally wholly maintained by volunteers.

Glad you had a good crowd up there.

16 cars? That's really bad - but at least it means everyone makes the 'A'. WSS has really plummeted in recent years. I know some of the reasons for it, but not for a drop to that level. Parramatta has weekly nominations around 45-50, and Warrnambool's Annual Classic has been getting fields up to 120 cars trying to make it to the 24 car field A Main. (I was just watching last year's Classic on youtube. Well worth a look, even though it was shot on an iphone from the spectator area...
