Pay tv is the only way to go. I tried live streaming and it doesnít even compare to my fox coverage. Maybe in the distant future when our 3rd world country nbn services are improved but in many areas around Australia coverage is pathetic at best.

and I disagree with both of you and think that all 3 markets (fta/pay/stream) should be supported at different levels and let the public decide how much they want to pay and what they actually want out of it...

for me, there was never ever anything wrong with the fta other than the dribble from the presenters on occasion and the really bad dribble on the big meetings when it was a full day broadcast... that it was delayed was never an issue for me

Lucky for you this is exactly what we have had for 5 (6?) years now. And by the sounds of it, the exact thing you'll get going forward. Lifes good!

you call the tripe they put up an offering? LOL!

If they canít get this line right, what does it say for the rest of the article?

Yeah. Don't trust the AFR.

5 year Pay TV deal signed despite only one manufacturer and no concrete plan for the future.

Big mistake, but oh well.

Sky Sports NZ has lost just about every major sports rights renewal in the last few years to a streaming service. At the current point in time they would be desperate to sign a contract for anything. It is a leap of faith to think that Supercars will exist in 5 years time.

So Sky NZ were worried a competitor would sign supercars to a pay to stream service? Despite only one manufacturer and no concrete plans for the future.

I think that's unlikely. But if you provide a link....

Sky TV was outbid recently by streaming services for lower rating sports. On that basis I'd expect Sky's competitors to be offering money to get supercars. Therefore I don't see why sky would get the rights for free.

They must have their ducks in a row for the local TV deal if they are locking in contracts for overseas television stations

More bad news for those that think no TV deal is coming!! It's now really only a matter of when they make an announce & only a matter of time before I can directly quote people whom think no deal was coming!!

Wasnít everyone glad to see the back of Channel 7 after 2014 when they supposedly brought the sport to its knees?

Why a celebration that they might be returning?

can't imagine anything will change with the fta agreement from what it is... the *cough* highlights package *cough* will remain a waste of an hour for those who choose to watch more ads/dribble than racing...

i'll just keep on going to the track where i can watch racing in person... maybe it won't have the glitz and pretentiousness of SC but it's bloody good fun and you get to hang out with some great folk.

perhaps you should put your foxtel money towards buying a ticket at a state level event and see what you are missing (and no, it won't all be impressive but what you get for your $ far outweighs what you get on a SC weekend)

sorry Joe, that wasn't pointed at anyone in particular :)

just a general comment about people who think that SC is the only racing on the calendar anywhere in Oz :)
