2) Go and learn how to swing bats. I'll hire someone who already knows how, and get him to teach me. Maybe have a bit of time at a driving range, before going out to a course and having a hit.

3) Swing bats at the best courses in the country, possibly dragging my professional along with me. I can buy a tee time at places where they play major tournaments, so I play there. Melton Golf Club doesn't have the same appeal.

The same process with motorsport is very similar. Rich Person (RP) buys best car they can. An Audi R8 GT3 sounds much better than a FFord, or FVee, or the other usual places that people learn how to drive on a track especially when you consider track support and a pro to teach you as part of the package. Now RP has to learn how to drive, in my fancy car and fancy suit....and the only place I can race my car is in a National Series???? Hang on, Rich Person Golfer isn't learning in the Australian Open, why is RP Driver having to learn in a place with long races, big costs and all RP Driver wants to do is get use out of his toy.

While in a way I can see reasoning why they wanted to "protect their interests" in banning GT3 spec cars from anything other national series, surely some of the hot rods that run around in state sports cars would be similar in pace to GT4.

If they just went with GT3, sure, outfits like MPC would lose a few Audi GT3 customers, but they are offering the same level of track support and preparation with the R8 GT4, and probably could regain the lost customers with a lower spec (not by much) car.

That is the closest you will ever get to hearing CAMS say the words "We stuffed up."

Supercars isn't a sport.

Its a category of motor racing.

The reason for CAMS wonderful idea has come to light, especially if you read between the lines of the reasons why the Supercars Oz GT takeover is no more.
