He would need a very large salary to counter the insurance loss and I cannot see a team making such an offer if his racing season long stamina is in question.

Martini need a driver over 25 years old for promotion work.

I suspect that Kubica, a talented driver, will fill the role of test and development driver for Williams plus able to handle the Martini PR role at race meetings without the distraction of actually racing.

He would still get the excitement of driving the car from time to time. Not having completed recent Grand Prix, he is not restricted on test days.

I suspect that Mercedes have another driver in mind and will reduce the engine bill and pay his salary, a big incentive to Williams.

Massa has taken to being critical of Williams and questioning their professionalism, so he is surely out.

Kubica could then mentor Stroll.

It was well known Mercedes wanted Pascal Wehrlein as the lead driver at Williams but the Martini contract needing a 25+ driver blocked such a move and I can't see Martini being happy with a workaround that sees a non-driving ambassador

Kubica wouldn't settle for just a test role either, if that was all he wanted then he wouldn't have gone to the lengths he has gone to in terms of making a comeback
