It could work out for him, or it could be egg on face if Honda and Red Bull manage to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Then again, people thought (me included) Hamilton to Mercedes and Vettel to Ferrari would be dud moves. They've since proven otherwise.

So there you have it, Ricciardo ended his career with less wins than Webber.

Dunno, Red Bull have been shafting him for a while, then they stopped using lube.

Good on Dan for leaving, and keeping it classy at the same time, Red Bull can now go pound sand for all I care.

So... Alonso to RedBull?

Unlikely, I know, but wouldn't that be fun?

Is Daniel really in a worse position in 2019 at a rapidly improving works Renault team compared to a newly powered Honda Red Bull team?

Either way, I think he will be in a similar grid spot in 2019, nothing to lose by checking out a different paddock for a while.

The great 2019 poll about whether Tricky should be banned or not ended in favour of Tricky staying, 75% to 25%

Good move I think. Verstappen is only going to get better and then even if Red Bull are winning titles, it wouldn't have been Dan doing it. At least if he goes to Renault, they have the potential to move up and he should be able to beat Hulkenberg. He'd never win a title at Red Bull. He has more chance at Renault in my opinion.

I'd say Red Bull felt they had him cornered. Seats at Ferrai and Merc closed, where else would he go? Offered him a lowball sum thinking that he'd take it.

He's now #1 driver at the Factory team which should offer him the best Renault package (can't see McLaren leaping them). A big move to leave Red Bull, and it took balls to do it.

I think next year should be a good one. Ferrari v Merc v Honda v Renault, all with top drivers. Just need Honda and Renault to come to the party.

I was thinking this too, but surely Honda wouldn't want him after all the ****bagging he gave them over the years.

You wouldn't have thought Maclaren would have Alonso back either, after all his crap...

Hopefully Dan knows more about Renaults plans for the future than any of us, and it works out well for him.
