Sure there are Supercar fans.

But, the great majority of fans are Motor Racing fans.

Supercars is allocated the Australian Touring Car Championship by CAMS. As such, it is of interest to Australian Motor Racing fans.

If CAMS should allocate the ATCC to another class, which they have done a number of times over the years, Australian Motor Racing fans will follow the ATCC and Supercars will become just another orpan category sideshow, like previous class cars.

If in doubt, look back to 1973, for a start.

Then there are fans of the Bathurst Race, and it will have followers and fans, regardless of the class and even it it is a stand alone race. Some fans follow just one race a year and have done since last Century.

In the meantime, there are 2019 Bathurst wildcards and they are welcome additions to the field. All 4 drivers are well capable of finishing the race.

It is a pity that there aren't more wildcards. Who now has spare cars? 888, BJR, DJR/TP? There are a few eligible cars out there in Super2 land. STM has one too.

Groves, father and son would be one team I would like to see and they have international experience. Maybe Roland could lend his spare in exchange for bags of cash. There is reason to believe that Penske has drivers in other parts of the world, all aliens except Will Power, who has Supercar experience.

Essentially 1 wild card = 1 car in its class so hard to get excited about.

Enduros should be opened up to include Super2 teams

Drop the super2 race altogether and let them enter super2 reg cars so it is affordable. Last time failed because money did not allow it. Can't expect sponsors to cough up an entire 1000 run with 2 or 3 months notice however incorporated into initial calender release and negotiations and it is easily acheivable for most super2 teams and sponsors.

It was a non-championship race. It was to encourage them to join the 1000. They weren't obliged to enter the NC Super2 race. Many, especially championship contenders, didn't. Unless they make the 1000 part of the Super2 championship, it will always be the same. And there are many reasons why making it part of their championship is a bad idea.

Who cares about the back page of the paper and what it'll say, I'm excited to see WAU bringing some people over!

When Alonso had a crack at Indy (and failed)... was still some intriguing viewing... as a motor racing fan.

Not expecting much but I like seeing more cars on the grid.

They really need to lift the testing restrictions for them for it to really work and get others into it

RIP LJ - loved and never forgotten.

"It was dry for the second go-around. Grice, nervous, worrying about his Bathurst jinx, ran 2:25.9. The amazing Brock, using every last centimetre of bitumen, yet keeping the car straight and balanced and at full noise, came back with a staggering 2:20.0 as if to say: "Match that". And people just shook their heads, bit their lips and wondered who would be second".

The Peter Brock trophy is now where it belongs.

Because Supercars fans have said ad nauseum for over a decade that the 1000 is not a race for all-comers anymore and the less cars tugging around the better

Yet the same people want to get excited about a car from mid-grid team that will be tugging around the back

Give them some proper testing and preparation and I would get excited about this entry because they might stand a chance of being competitive

Under the current regulations, entries for overseas drivers are pointless and a waste of seats on the grid.
