Itís pretty damn sad Australiaís top motorsport category requires a band to have fans rock up.
I mainly went to the 2011 Hamilton 400 to see ZZ Top, but it got me hooked on watching Supercars obsessively. Previously I'd only watched a bit very occasionally. So the concert factor isn't entirely sad.

Agree, Bloops. If you have to pay X dollars to see a race and there is a concert attached, wherein you have pay X + Y dollars to see the bands, that is fine with me. If I am not interested in the concert, nothing is making me go and it is not interfering with me watching the cars.
Now, if you charge EVERYONE X + Y dollars to see the race and the concert is "free", now you are going to have an argument.
ZZTop and Hamilton made you a fan of Supercars. That is what the sanctioning body is trying to accomplish.
