Big off in this morning's race. Emery into the tyre wall on pit entrance, race red flagged, only just got him out of car and into an ambulance but it's taken a long time, looks like they've had to take the door off to het him out.

did read that he had contact with a Lambo leading to a head on and they cut the roof off the Audi to get him out... taken to hospital for back pains if I remember correctly from the article (read it on my phone somewhere so can't provide a link, sorry, but no doubt it will come up through the day)

This shows the crash. Almost looks like a jammed throttle because it's odd to have a mild bump like that from and head towards the tyres at such pace.

BTW, accident happened on Lap 1. So don't fast forward to far on the video.

Went out to Phillip Island today for the 101, second time visiting and really enjoy it out there, freezing, but so much fun with camera in hand. How anyone thinks that GT3 replacing V8 Supercars from is a bad idea, from an on track/racing perspective at least, baffles me. Variety, noise, cool looking cars, decent amount of passing, I dig them. If all the pit stops were out and out pit stops there'd be quite the nice top tier series.

Anyways, some pics, and a full album with hi res shots (made for 1920x1080) can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/GlxTH

Great pictures there mate. I agree that GT racing is cool, but there's certainly more to fix than just the pit stops before it becomes bigger than V8 Supercars.

Oh I don't doubt that, but take the current Supercar series and replace the Holdens, Fords, Volvos and Nissans with what was on display today, surely not a bad place to start. Triple 8 Mclaren vs Nissan Kelly GT3 vs Prodrive Racing Audi? Yes please

Those are some beautiful cars. The McLaren is a particularly fine piece of equipment.

The new Mercedes is even more gorgeous in person, the BMWs look like beasts, disappointed the Hurucan and Porsche weren't on the grid today. 4x road going Mclarens and 2x GT3 versions lazing about in the pits to get nice and up close to too.

The McLaren's really do look sweet. The BMW though just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I need to see it in person?

So the one car that isn't much different to a V8 Supercar doesn't do it for you?

If you think there is more that needs to be fixed you should watch the Blancpain races on Youtube from this year. Every one I've watched has been great. Only thing that needs to be fixed is replacing the V8 field with these things.

In regards to the first line, yes. I never have been much a fan of BMW's styling though.

This years Blancpain series has been good viewing.

Well done to George and Andrew Miedecke who won the Sydney Motorsport Park 101 in their V12 Aston Martin Vantage. George also broke Jack le Broq's GT class lap record for the Gardner (original) circuit during the race. The full race is uploaded to YouTube if anyone wants to have a look. Andrew Miedecke, John Bowe and Craig Baird were the only drivers in the race who actually raced in the only other endurance race held at Eastern Creek back in 1990. In that race (won by Larry Perkins and Tomas Mezera in Larry's old VL), Mad Andy teamed with Brocky to finish 3rd in a Sierra.

Go GT!

Good news here for watchers of Australian GT that Speedcafe will cover the entire GT endurance races and the bulk of the Australian GT championship races.

Race coverage, easily accessible for fans and possibly on demand?

What is this nonsense?
