Something interesting to note. One driver (there may be others I haven't thought of) has competed in both the 12 Hour, 6 Hour and will compete in the 1000, all in the same year. That driver... V8 Central's current favourite driver, David Wall!

Two completely different kettles of fish

I understand that but I can see why the V8SC is so popular.

Give this race a few years...as we've seen the B12 has really come alive and this should to.

this event was the B12 before the GT guys took it over... and it was a ripper event... but 6 hours is probably enough for it I think and it gives the support categories more track time too.

I hope Manufactures don't get involved, and this stays a pure armature level race.

60+ HQs entered, that's insane, grass roots at its best. Last year they had a 55 Saloon car event too, I guess in today's economic climate, a lot of racers are going back to the entry level classes.

Seems a bit amateurish to the 1000?

I wonder if it's because that race is to cater for a lower level competitor?

Chaz Mostert becomes the second Bathurst 1000 winner to have also won the Bathurst 6hrs

Hopefully more V8 drivers "do a Chaz" next Easter, it was a nice surprise to see the announcement of him competing.

The problem is that without manufacturers getting behind production car racing;

A) What is the point of it then?

and

B) Where will the new cars come from? The heavy majority of cars in yesterday's race were superceded models

Interesting that both the 12 Hour and the 6 Hour were won by orange cars with white on the side...and Morcom is driving a McLaren for Tekno in the GT series!

Edit - just to confirm, I was in the background of the Evo crash. Also in the background as Chaz brings the car across the finish line .

I don't see what value manufacturers add to this event? There are other Bathurst races to compete in for them.

I wouldn't be interested in excluding potential competitors. But if a manufacturer wanted to get compete in this. Then I would hope they'd take it in the right spirit and not go for the easy win.

On the one hand i completely get what you are saying.

But on the other hand the whole essence and core of production car racing is with the manufacturers. Manufacturers have more of a place in production cars than they do in V8Supercars.

Without them interested who is going to build the new cars to compete in the likes of the Bathurst 6hr? There has been very few new production cars built over the last few years, most of the cars in the field were old models (look at the winning BMW which is nearly 10 years old, the third placed Mitsubishi even older)... I can't see the event surviving (as a showpiece event over 6hrs) if we keep running the same cars year on year as has been what has happened in the AMChamps of recent years.

For mine I think the B6H should at least be a reasonably new car thing... maybe give them up to 5 years or similar...

I don't think the manufacturers should be involved in the manner of owning/running a team but think it would be good for a little win Sunday/sell Monday thinking to work its way back in there... setup a maximum number of car types so that we don't end up with what really does stand out in the V8SC ranks with everyone in the one make.. think BTCC did it a while back? maybe 4-5 cars of the same shape keeps up the viewing pleasure for the punters...

and also a dollar cap on the car so that we don't end up with the exotics in there...

I wonder how many will turn up in N14 Pulsars given that it beat and outlasted some of the more modern machinery?

It was a generic statement. More to do with how the event appeared to be run than the actual competitors. This is based from what I saw of it on TV anyway.

Good to see the event will run for at least the next 3 years

Will we see some more drivers from the V8SCs?

And again, awesome to have the free, live and HD stream of the race!

So having seen the edited highlights on speedweek. It's good. As long as you don't expect too much, The race should have a solid future.

It makes me think of the strengths/weaknesses of domestic motorsport. I've been to PI to watch these cars for the 4, then 3hour. I couldn't care less. But I could watch the whole of this race with no problem.
