One of the things that bugged me was the Marc cars... they can go faster but get penalised if they do... so why not do something to them that keeps them even but lets them race at full strength?

Cut the revs by 500 or whatever it may be... and then hopefully get a decent grid of them for a 'proper' 2nd class within the field.

I'd imagine that some quarters would be just as upset by a MARC Mk2 winning outright as they were with the Monaros in the 24 Hours.

That's fair enough CP which was why I suggested a rev restriction or maybe a different gearing so that they aren't watching the clock and dropping a second or two coming in to the final corner so they don't get penalised.

I am impressed by the Grove Team: They drove their new Porsche to a top 10 result against factory teams with professional drivers and a class win to boot.

They win a lot don't they.

PS: That McLaren may be quick but it is so ugly.

Later addition, regarding news in "the Australian" online

Here is the total text of Motorsport page reporting between January 15, and including last weekend, until today.

Does the lap time rule only apply in the dry? I'd imagine that if it rained for most of the race, a MARC Mk2 in capable hands would mix with the GT3 field.

Let's hope for a wet year to see what happens!

That would certainly rock the boat! But with the extra downforce and on the right tyres the GT3 cars should still be out in front easily

I was at the grate and watching Kirchhofer when I saw him go backwards into the fence - I didn't see the roll due to the cloud of dust but the sight of that impact isn't going to be easily forgotten!

Another great event despite the difficult conditions for spectating.

We're all here, we're the Bathurst boys; and you can't hear Richo above the noise...
