Rugby League is very strong up here.
There's grass roots programs running through the schools which help and also plenty of visits from high profile players and retired players.

You just have to look at the success of the Broncs and the Cowboys in particular to see how strong it is. Nearly every kid wants to play for them.

One contributing issue for NSW is the print media here are hopeless. Theyve been trying for too long trying to get to under the QLDlanders skin with the same ignorant and arrogant dribble every year. It has never worked....ever, yet they still persist. A number of callers to various sports shows this week leading up to origin expressed their disgust towards the 60 Minutes story and warning that all the other various media dribble would only fire QLD up. They were right.

A lot of kids in NSW want to play for QLD too!! Particularly in Bowraville!! They want to hope they go to QLD on holidays one day. It'll increase their chances!!!

I find this constant dribble about Inglis being from Bowraville very boorish.
It happened with Ken Nagus long before Inglis played in QLD.
Nagus was born and bred in Bundaberg QLD.
It also happened in the very first state of origin game.
Steve Rogers played his first senior rugby league with the Southport Tigers. Even won a premiership there. Yet he played for NSW.

In fact the new eligibility rules probably favour Qld now.
Darren Lockyer is a classic case. Signed as a school boy by the Bronco's. IRCC the Roosters were also chasing him very hard.
If Lockyer went to the Roosters he would have been eligible for NSW.
There were plenty of young Qlders over the years that were signed while still in high school and then played their first senior games in NSW.

Anyway Mafool will always look at the world while on her back and will always see things that are plain as day in a distorted way.
That was the first game in quite a while that every penalty given was deserved. Even the obvious milked ones were deserved because of the players involved not even attempting to get out of the way.

Mitchel Pearce had a lot to say to JT in game 2. JT's response was priceless telling Pearce he was the worst half back in origin history and the only way he'll touch an origin shield is to go outside and touch the one that Wally Lewis is holding and that he'd even take a picture of it for him.
Apart from a sledge or two at least QLD didn't humiliate them with some stupid try celebrations so NSW won't get years of motivation from it like Qld did

How good was Klemmer. Dropped the ball a couple of times as soon as he got on. Then ran around for the next 10 minutes trying to kill some one and missed each time. One hot day doesn't make a summer.
I'm sure he knows how to spell R-E-S-P-E-C-T these days.
He's just a loud mouth. I was sitting on the M1 for 3 hours due an accident on Friday night and was listening to Grandstand on the ABC. Apparently there was an ABC cameraman at the airport who was filming the Blues getting back into Sydney.
Klemmer wasn't asked any questions and the cameraman wasn't in his way. Yet good old Klemminator told this ABC guy who did absolutely nothing to him to 'get out of my ****ing way you ****'.
And in case you're wondering what the auto censor stars said it was the same thing he called Corey Parker.
Which is pretty funny because Corey Parker played a blinder against NSW and got the Wally lewis medal. Whereas all Klemmer got was a reputation for being a loud mouthed idiot and massive serve on social media

Boorish or not get used to it. Use as many examples as you want. Inglis is the current poster boy for this argument and will be until the next one comes along either way...And it'll continue as long as the concept does.

It's ok, i'm used to it. I like the fact the player like Inglis would rather play for QLD over the state he was born in

It is boring though
Aussie James Tamou.
More recent than Inglis and from Palmerstone Nth NZ. Even played for the junior Kiwis.
So how did he qualify for NSW again

As I said, use any example you want.

Inglis also wanted to play for QLD in part because they treat indigenous players better than NSW. Both QLD and NSW have proven since day one you can use practically any excuse get a player to play for either state. Inglis and Tamou are shining examples of a flawed concept.

And the NRL have boxed themselves into a corner with it. Because no matter how you change it, everyones going to squeal 'unfair'.

Doesn't bother me Gerry!! Just trying to explain to QLDlanders why NSW won't win another.

BTW, if I was worried about the code I follow I'd ask you how did the QLD Reds go against NSW this year???

Don't think there's even a thread on that although some Kiwi did start one about the World Cup or something!

All good banter

Rugby League played in schools up here
Rugby Union mainly played in institutions.
Rugby Union care factor in QLD not much more than zero
