I Think SC will have to have a HELL of a salespitch to get a good deal given the Holden departure. What will be racing in 2022+ and will it be any good??

Kayo makes the series more accessible, both with price and with where you can watch it. I watched more last year than I had the previous 5 years because it was more accessible thanks to Kayo and my Ipad.

The big thing I notice now is how poor the marketing for the series is. The drivers are bland, the racing is boring and the promotion is poor. When I started watching I had Skaife, Murphy, Ingall, Ambrose, Lowndes among others who all had personality and distinctive driving styles. Even when HRT were a juggernaut, it was still interesting, chaotic and exciting.

They are particularly behind the ball with their digital marketing. The series only started using their Youtube channel properly late last year while the normally tight F1 have been using it for extended highlights for years. These mediums are crucial for attracting younger viewers.

Yeah it is good, though $300 per season is kinda expensive - assuming you're not going to muck around with a spreadsheet to figure out when to cancel/resume your subscription.

Most of the best races like Bathurst are available for free, so the 300 bucks only gives you the less interesting races. That's what makes it a tough sell.

For serious fans of the sport, no worries. Heck of a lot cheaper than attending even one race in the flesh. But what about new fans of the sport who aren't sure if they like it yet? The current TV deal is no good for them, and they're the future of the sport.

I think it is better if your have multiple interests.

I have it mainly for the AFL coverage, but cricket, F1, supercars and watching Nick Kyrgios having a meltdown or win tournaments out of the blue are nice bonuses.

Better then, that new fans are exposed only to the better races on FTV. That would be more likely to draw them in than watching a less interesting race and getting put off watching any more.

I know a lot of fans walked away in NZ when Bathurst was no longer on FTA in NZ.

At least you can still watch Bathurst FTA.

The series will be dead in a few years just like Holden is anyway. Then we can get a proper ATCC back again, and fully on FTA. Looking forward to it.

This weekend there are a lot of hours FTA over 3 days.

Hopefully, they leave in the racing and cut out talking heads and alleged celebrity cross promotional interviews, for which i don't care a pinch or even a peck.

Considering the parlous state of the series, I reckon they could do a good deal with Blendline TV next year.

No1 fan of James Courtney's ex-wife!
