oh for sure it was tight Wrighty...

I just thought that his car was straight and no contact with either of the cars in front of him until after he was tagged... if the Porsche had taken the same tighter line as the Bentley then he wouldn't have hit Moz.

was the Porsche that hit him a lapped car or for position?

The Bentley was coming away from that tight line and towards Chaz's nose, probably not knowing he was there. Even if Chaz hadn't been tagged he was highly likely to collide with it anyway.

There is a very high chance that if the contact and crash on the exit of Forrest's hadn't happenened, then Chaz could have found himself in hot water for his driving conduct over the top of the mountain.

Supercars isn't a sport.

Its a category of motor racing.

I think it might have been the tap, tap, tap.

Maybe the bonnet was longer than he thought like Whincup used as an excuse during the race!

We're all here, we're the Bathurst boys; and you can't hear Richo above the noise...

Excuse..?
I guess his bonnet length was the reason he finished 2nd and not 1st.

One thing I found rather bizarre was that I didn't even hear the accident that ended the race. I was sitting in the Ironjack section, so for anyone that was there not far away at all. Didn't hear the crash, didn't hear the crowd. Just saw the big screen. I guess the cars that went by just completely drowned the sound out.

The only tapping I saw was the tap (that I still don't think was Chaz's fault) at the Dipper.

Had he not got a bit over ambitious at the exit of the Elbow, the repeated tapping would've resulted in an avoidable contact and/or unsportsmanlike driving.

The officialdom are a bit stricter in sports car racing and don't want to see it infected with some of the garbage that can be on show in Supercars.

Im sure Supercars will sell out.

It will only happen if one of these two instances occur;

A) the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship TV deal gets sold with the Bathurst 12hr TV rights sold as part of the deal

Seems likely IMO.

Watch from here to the apex of Forrest's Elbow. Then go back and watch the Bentley that was following the MARC II in front of them. The Bentley was doing what they were told in the drivers briefing, Chaz was not.

It was a week ago. But fwiw, I agree with Sonic's post at the top. I wasn't aware GT have rules to prevent unnecessary contact. That's good of them. It always irks me when I hear/read from people who should know better that "Rubbin's racin'"

On another note. Having taken the rare act of buying auto action. Andrew Kirkaldy has a suggestion to make the 12h safer by reducing the field. He's a guy who's been involved in motorsport for decades. But doesn't get it the role of endurance racing in motorsport, and what differentiates it from other motorsport.

I recall someone posted a few years ago that there's more panel rubbing in the 12 Hour than one might expect, touting it as one of the appeals. But it should probably at least be between cars of the same class for a start!

There is also the fact that most of the accidents (as in recent years too) were of the GT3 cars crashing into eachother or on their own
