Title: 2021 V8CFL - General Chat
Post by: mikeamerica84 on May 11, 2021, 09:37:08 AM
We can use this thread to chat, men.

I am working with laser to obtain as much history as I can from 2016, when I first started running the V8CFL.  I have the 2016 & 2017 season archives on my hard drive, but only 2021 after that.

The next week, or so, will be a period of "rebuilding" the 2021 season for me.  First off, I do not have the rules as written, believe-it-or-not.  I have the teams and the table, but not the Tournament, or the Tournament schedule.

What I plan on doing next is to tally up the Tailem Bend results and post them this week.  However until I decipher/remember/obtain the rules, any team roster changes will be on hold.  Heck, we only have a couple of eleven guys re-signed up on the site right now.

We'll play it by ear.  If anything, we can always restart fresh in 2022.

Cheers.

Perhaps we can just stick to the main table for now. Keep running it and hopefully all of the members signed up for this year are notified of the new site and can join us again soon.

I'll start spitting out results here by day's end.  laser has given me the knowledge to start getting some history back.

I am slooooowly getting some history back, men.  I will update the table historically from Round 1 later on.  I have, however, posted the Tailem Bend Results and created a thread for the 2021 rules as previously written.

Race 1 podium:
1  Ignition Motorsports / ignition / Ford Falcon FG
2  Kalyara Motorsport / Kytabu / Ford Focus RS
3  151 Motorsport / SportsExtra Motorsport / Holden Commodore VFII

Race 2 podium:
1  A1 SimSports / V8SuperRiley / Ford Mustang
2  NAPA Racing Team / CP / Ford Mustang
3  TAA Performance / BAC-013 / Ford Mustang

Race 3 podium:
1  R&K Motorsports / mikeamerica84 / Ford Mustang
2  Ignition Motorsports / ignition / Ford Falcon FG
3  TAA Performance / BAC-013 / Ford Mustang

There were no points penalties levied by the sanctioning body as posted in the Stewards Summary.  As for fastest lap points, Race 1 was the 97 car, Race 2 the 25 car, and Race 3 the 6 car.  HOWEVER, the 25 car was excluded from the scoring for Race 2 for it did not complete the minimum number of laps to score points, so with that the Race 2 total was still 0 (zero).

I will attempt to rebuild the Tournament, but that is to be determined.  Also, I will eventually change the sign on names for some of you who changed them when laser went to the new site here.

BUT.... we are up on at least one leg and starting to stumble.  Soon I hope we can walk..... then run.

I have come to realize that there is a limited number of characters one can have per post.  Hence the Tables/Results thread will look a little different.

I'll get onto recreating the Media Centre thread too. Members will be free to repost liveries too if they wish to be eligible for the LOTY comp at seasons end.

laser private messaged me with this search tidbit:

If you search for V8 Central, V8CFL, 2021 V8CFL - , etc., you will find links to the old forum.  If you click on the link it will bring you to the new forum.  However, if you look way to the right of the lick post, there is a drop down menu and you can search the cache.  It is only one page per search, but I found a few things for me like the 2021 rules and signup page.

I did find the 2021 V8CFL Media Centre last week, but now I cannot find it anywhere.  I wish I would have copied the link.  Seems to be hit and miss.  If I find it again, guys, I'll post the link.  Likewise if you find the 2021 V8CFL Tournament schedule.standings drop me the link.  I cannot find that - only an announcement about how the Tournament will be aligned.

Within our rules there is/always has been an allowance for late signups.  When signing up late, the new member must take last place points for all races leading up to the point of signup.

I believe we are going to have a new member soon.

Winton deadline for roster changes has passed.  You have what you have.  Good luck to all.

With luck, I will have the results out by Tuesday USA time.  The Indianapolis 500 will take up the majority of this Sunday.

Ohhhh..... wait.  I just found out it was postponed.  Belay my last.

LG, I just hope this postponement is not a sign of things to come this time around.

I'll let the boys change as they desire.  Once again, the ad-libbing has commenced for the V8CFL.

Had a computer death here at V8CFL Headquarters, located on the northern perimeter of beautiful downtown desolate Stevensville, MI a few days ago.

I'll be back in a few with the updated table and newest member as I break in my latest laptop pet.

What the hell is a touch screen?

I have added Sky News Motorsport to the list of competing teams with Trickyonne as Team Principal.  The team has taken last place points for all races leading up to current.  This is within the rules for late signups.  From here on out they will compete for proper points and the V8CFL Geographical Challenge.

A heads up to get us all back on the same page:

The Hidden Valley Round is this weekend.  All roster changes have to be in by MIDNIGHT THURSDAY SYDNEY, NSW time.

We have a 12th team competing this round, also - Sky News Motorsport.

And a reminder, Hidden Valley will be the second of three State/Territory/New Zealand/Continent Challenge rounds.  All scores for each team within those individual geographical boundaries will be added together and divided by the number of teams to determine a victor.  Scoring for the Geographical Challenge will be 9-6-4-3-2-1-0.

For these Geo Challenge Rounds, in Race 1 your Groups A and B cars will NOT be scored.  Your top three listed Group F cars WILL be scored. Nine cars.

Races 2 and 3 will be under the normal points scoring format.

I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things myself and will be glued to my computer watching the action.

Hidden Valley Results are posted.

Podiums:

Race 1 :
1 - TAA Performance / Jetpac-013 / Ford Mustang
2 - NAPA Racing Team / CP / Ford Mustang
3 - Sky News Motorsport / Trickyonne / LDV T60

Race 2:
1 - Kalyara Motorsport / Kytabu / Ford Focus RS
2 - Drop Bear Autosport / Helix / Ford Mustang
3 - Ain't Care Motorsports / skaifeman / Holden Commodore ZB

Race 3:
1 - Sky News Motorsport / Trickyonne / LDV T60
2 - Drop Bear Autosport / Helix / Ford Mustang
3 - TAA Performance / Jetpac-013 / Ford Mustang

In the Geographical Challenge, Europe took honors.  This might result in a rule wherein the members of this group must show identification that they are from Europe.  Vaccination cards will be next.   8)

In the table, I had to create a new thread for Round 5, but it is there.  What a table we have right now!  Drop Bear Autosport and Ain't Care Motorsports are in a dead heat.  The former has the tiebreaker right now with three second place finishes.  Kalyara Motorsport is only ten markers behind, too!

Stewards summary:  It has been discussed in a previous thread wherein the 8 Car was docked 86 points in Race 1.  Now after Race 3, Kelly Grove was docked 30 team points for equipment not under control in pit lane.  For this penalty is was not directed at either the 7 Car the 26 Car, so I cannot levy the blow to either in the V8CFL.  I am not going to "split it" 15/15 either.  This was not as cut and dry as the 8 Car penalty.

All other penalties were time penalties issued during the racing.

And lastly, fastest laps for Race 1, 2, and 3 were the 97 Car, 25 Car, and 9 Car respectively.  Race 1 made no difference for the Groups A and B cars were not scored.

That's it from America for today, men!  Have a good week!

You are an ICON in the V8CFL, James.  You are the Media Centre Guru.  Don't let the "reset" of the site knock you down.  The Media Centre will come back.

As for success..... mate, you won at Sandown this year!  You won the Tournament a few years back.  You choose the drivers and cars you like/follow.  Take your success as it comes and laugh at those who do not get it at the times you have your success.  You are the first guy I buddied up with on this forum.  I will always remember that and our conversations about the Sydney Thunder cricket team and your family pic..

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but back around 2008-ish when I first logged onto the old forum, you were the defending champ of the old fantasy league?

Stick around, mate.  You're gold - no matter how the stats shake out.  And stick with the guys you like in the V8CFL.  That's what makes the eventual win taste great.  I'd rather lose with the guys I like than win with the guys I don't like.

Lol I appreciate the pep talk. I'm all talk, though. I'm too invested and too passionate about the idea of running my own team to just give it up.

I do feel like Williams at this point though. Was once a team of glory (albeit with only one championship win, but also a Tourno win so there's that) but now consistently running back of the pack.

Bringing shame to the Mazda name.

Now THAT'S the spirit!  Things like this are also why I started the Tournament.  Yo might be bad in the table but you can knock someone's block off week in and week out.

On a different note, all - Townsville is up in a day, or so.  Rosters will be locked in soon.  Jockey for what positions you may wish prior to.  As of right now I am the only team with roster changes for this round.

Just a heads-up, men.  We're going to play this thing through until the end this year and come back out swinging in 2022.  If we have no more races in 2021 we will call it done right then.  Let us just hope we can get the series going again amidst "Pandemic II".

Getting us all back onboard, men, the next round of the 2021 season is nary a week away.  Remember, all team roster changes must be submitted prior to MIDNIGHT THURSDAY, SYDNEY, NSW TIME.

You have four allotted changes in Groups A-E and two reshuffles allowed in Group F.  Please review your rosters and note any changes in the applicable thread for doing so.

With Wanneroo off of the 2021 schedule, the Geographical Challenge is over after two rounds.  Congratulations to the Queensland camp in their victory.  In the three Geographical Challenge rounds, the first race of all three rounds had the Group A and B drivers thrown out.  However from here on out, the scoring will be as noted in the Rules thread.

HOPEFULLY we will be back up and running this next weekend.

The current V8CFL table:

1  Drop Bear Autosport         Helix                   1622       1     5     3     2     2      VIC   75  Ford Mustang

Racing is racing and we have what we have.  Thanks for that racing spirit, Helix!

I know i am hoping/jockeying for a huge bag of points this next weekend.  If I do not get it, at least I am not out any money!

Let us hope the original masses who are still onboard make a claim to achieve their success.

We are all now locked in for SMP Part II.  R&K Motorsports has the only team roster alteration.

Who will be in the 26 Car....?

Good luck to all!  See you on the other side of the checkers!

Round 9 Results are up.  Drop Bear Autosport and Helix still hold serve in the table but Kalyara Motorsport is coming.

Race 1 Podium:
1 - A1 SimSports / V8SuperRiley / Ford Mustang
2 - Sky News Motorsport / Trickyonne / LDV T60
3 - Ain't Care Motorsports / skaifeman / Holden Commodore ZB

Race 2 Podium:
1 - Sky News Motorsport / Trickyonne / LDV T60
2 - NAPA Racing Team / CP / Ford Mustang
3 - Kalyara Motorsport / Kytabu / Ford Focus RS

Race 3 Podium:
1 - Drop Bear Autosport / Helix / Ford Mustang
2 - Ignition Motorsports / ignition / Ford Falcon FG
3 - Kalyara Motorsport / Kytabu / Ford Focus RS

I do not think Mick and Sky News Motorsport has been around to pick up their silverware post race.  I guess we will keep it for him until we run into him again?

Fastest laps:  20 Car, 25 Car, and 88 Car for Races 1, 2, and 3 respectively.  No post-race points penalties per the Stewards Summary.

And for a chuckle, Jack Smith actually decided the tiebreaker for Race 1 for two members!

On to Sydney Motorsport Park Part III!

The deadline for roster changes for SMP III has passed.  The Arrow Motorsport and Ain't Care Motorsports have used said option(s).

Rosters are now locked.  I have a busy weekend ahead of me so I will try and keep pace with the results but they will not be out as promptly as the past two rounds.

Good luck to all!

I off of the pace, men.  Work has me hitting it overtime.  I probably will not get the results out by early Wednesday USA time.  I did watch Race 1 so far, though.

Because of this and the 14+ hour time diff between here and you, I am hereby extending the deadline for team roster changes from the usual Midnight Thursday to MIDNIGHT FRIDAY SYDNEY, NSW time for SMP IV.

Thanks for your patience this week.

Round 11 Results are up!  Only one race.  The V8CFL does not recognize Race 2.  This is not F1.  This is not Spa.

Race podium:
1 Drop Bear Autosport / Helix / Ford Mustang
2 R&K Motorsports / mikeamerica84 / Ford Mustang
3 Ain't Care Motorsports / skaifeman / Holden Commodore ZB

No post race penalties.  All were served during said race.

Next up, Bathurst.

By my maths, with a minimum score of 138 points for 12th place at Bathurst, Helix and Drop Bear Autosport will finish the season with at least 2666 points, which means only myself and Skaifeman can catch him by winning Bathurst. A ninth-place finish or better at Bathurst will secure the title for Helix regardless of what everyone else achieves.

I think the real battle is between myself, Skaifeman and Mike for the runner-up spot!

I am glad I am within a shout, Kye!  That Helix guy is a tough nut to crack!   ;D

For all who wish to throw a hat in the ring, we'll have the Bathurst 1000 tipping contest coming out in the next couple of days.

Less than a week to go to lock-in rosters for the Bathurst 1000.  Prior to, though, please do not forget the Tipping Contest.  All members of not only the V8CFL, but of V8 Central are invited.

For the V8CFL we are going to have our side contest for Enduro Champions.  This year, however, I am going to take a page out of Bathurst pasts and split us into two groups/classes.  We'll have two championship teams.  Positions pairing up are 1&6, 2&5, 3&4, 7&12, 8&11, and 9&10.

Class 1:

Drop Bear Autosport / Helix
A1 SimSports / V8SuperRiley
75 Ford Mustang

Kalyara Motorsport / Kytabu
NAPA Racing Ream / CP
28 Ford Focus RS

Ain't Care Motorsports / skaifeman
R&K Motorsports / mikeamerica84
25 Holden Commodore ZB

Class 2:

TAA Performance / Jetpac-013
151 Motorsport / SportsExtra Motorsport
013 Ford Mustang

Ignition Motorsports / ignition
WOFTAM Racing / Professor
3 Ford Falcon FG

Sky News Motorsport / Trickyonne
The Arrow Motorsport / TheArrow
69T LDV T60

The door is closed for any Bathurst roster changes.  Only Ain't Care Motorsports and skaifeman have made a move.  And a HUGE move it might be.  A win it-or-bin it move!

Good luck to all.  This is the last race of 2021 but I'll be back for 2022 V8CFL moderation.

Guys,

I have only made it half way through Bathurst.  Duty calls the next three days (unexpectedly) as I have to work - 12 hours per.  I will get the V8CFL and Tipping Comp results out mid-late week.  I would like to finish watching the 1000 first.

Thanks for your patience.

Season is done, boys!

Bathurst Podium Results:
1 Ain't Care Motorsports / skaifeman / Holden Commodore ZB
2 WOFTAM Racing / Professor / Chevrolet Camaro
3 Ignition Motorsports / ignition / Ford Falcon FG

skaifeman's late roster change sealed the deal.  He wound up second on the Table.

Congratulations to Helix and Drop Bear Motorsport for yet another V8CFL Championship!

In the V8CFL Enduro Cup, it was skaifeman & mikeamerica84 winning Class 1, and Ignition Motorsports & WOFTAM Racing winning Class 2.

kennymiesta took honors in the Tipping Contest.

There were no post race points penalties in the Stewards Summary.

See you all next season!

Happy to walk away with my first outright Bathurst win too, and the first of the losers in the Championship. Whincup coming in paid off.

Congratulations to all this season. It's been long and tough but we got throught.

I'll work on the livery of the year comp over the next few days.

I literally just moved house and I have a lot of work to do so it may be a bit delayed.

My pleasure to run to league, men.  Let's hope 2022 is a little more seamless than the past couple of years with respect to global health impacts and motorsport.  We are headed to Florida in February for the start of the dirt track season.  Even only two months out, who knows where we'll be here in the States.

And Kye...... when it comes to tiebreakers, I once again lost - this time to your five wins.  I have no idea what my record is in tiebreakers but I am WAYYYY on the losing side of them!  ;D

Helix, you are THE MAN this year!  AGAIN!  I remember this 'pic' of you from year's past.   8)

We're all thin and buff in the V8CFL, mate.  Remember, without fantasy life is simply life.

Have your livery shop ready for 2022.  I have some good ideas.  With luck, COVID, scheduling, and web site changes will not affect our Media Centre.  The Arrow does a great job there and that thread got smeared this past season.
