Next round of TCM is at Morgan Park, Warwick.
Anyone on here attending?
We have a caravan group from Brisbane surrounds trekking up the small mountain.
Should be a sensational weekend in late June.

Am doing my best to get there as it's really just down the road but I probably won't know until the Friday before.

Great to see it has its own forum, right at a critical time for the class it seems.

Where have all the Porsche's etc... gone?

I see Bowey commenting on a VB being built, guessing it is for him- he reckons it will be the dominant car to have......so another Commodore cup...sighs! How long till the Sierras can will be eligible?

Wasn't the XD meant to be the previous weapon to have? It's still the same handful of cars at the front.
It's its own series now, the cars they run are miles better than their archeological cousin's, most running fibreglass panels. Most gains likely come from the head mechanic.

Being a pro-am series the best drivers usually come to the fore anyway. Wouldn't be too worried REM.

Is Bowe confirmed to be driving it?
Also, Bowey would never say a bad word about those that fund his racing ;D.

I do find it funny when people say they enjoy watching the "proper, old cars" racing in TCM. Group N and Group S are where it's at for historic racing.

And Group N is nothing like what it was either, it is definitely not 'representative racing'

There is already a VB racing, "GERARD MCLEOD, #50 | Holden Commodore VB". I think that I have heard of another team with a build under way. Maybe McLeod will do a batch run build such as with the recent Mustangs.

This TCM is getting very expensive.

There is an article on possibly opening the series to some interesting cars.
https://touringcarmasters.com.au/2021/10/01/class-changes-coming-to-encourage-tcm-growth-in-2022/

QuoteWHEN a minor change to the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters Technical Regulations was made a few years ago it ushered in a new era for the series.

The addition of cars built up to and including 1980 opened the series up to what is broadly considered the 'next generation' of Australian Touring Cars from the popular Group C era.

As such the VB/C Holden Commodore and XD Ford Falcon now compete alongside the existing Camaro, Mustang, Torana, Falcon and other models that have been mainstays in the category for years and, based on our recent 'fan favourite' polls, are hugely popular among TCM fans with the Team Johnson Falcon taking top spot.

Which begs the question – what should be next?

While the category will firmly retain its roots as being the home to classic muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s – and the technical regulations ensure that they will remain just as competitive as they are now – there remain several cars from the late 1970s that would very much be TCM worthy but have not yet raced.

pretty disappointed for the Zman. he worked hard for that pass on StevieJ and deserved the win in today's race.

didn't get a proper look at it but seemed to be a decent whack for Fisher too :'(

the mountain is biting hard already this year.

There seems to have been a lot of tyre failures in TCM.

Are the increasingly lightweight and powerful TCM's too much for the tyres.

Might be a time for a rethink about cutting the power back or updating tyres.

I heard MZ hit 295, SJ was "only" 280. Given they were only feet apart, not sure how there was that much difference in speed between the two.

Either way, some pretty impressive numbers.  MZ's car seems to have a fair bit more mumbo than Jnr's, even allowing for the tow he was getting.

Always love to see Jnr win, but MZ must feel gutted, he deserved the win in that race.

I think they peak out at 300 on the limiter, if they let them rev a bit more who knows what they might achieve

Geez, another tyre failure for MZ at the same spot in this morning's race. Setup too aggressive on camber is the thinking

Not sure why the TCM one gets to run the cowl? The Zukanovic one doesn't.

You'd think some sort of "visual" honesty would still be required.

Junior goes alright in these things. JB speaks highly of him.

He could've had much better results during his Supercars career if he wasn't so loyal to the family business. But I would have made the same call in that position.

I reckon Junior will clean sweep the weekend.

Zac and I spoke to them at SMP about this ( I have photos of Zac  posing with the car looking very impressed), the induction does actually run through the bonnet....shame, because I prefer the cleaner look!

Bloody interesting that this has again become the best way - for these guys anyway.
It was only a few years ago that JB's Torana wasn't using the cowl for induction! This week we checked again, and he's back to it.

JB must be held in the ranks of Jim Richards now, just as an out-and-out racer who'll go until someone tells him to stop.
Any word on Jim? He was racing everything, and now isn't? Has age finally got to him?

I don't know, but I think the Javelin is still in his possession but still damaged after a crash back in 2017. Back then he was having trouble sourcing parts to repair it. I'd say he still has the Falcon. He definitely had it in 2019 after he last raced and I haven't heard or seen anything about it turning up anywhere else.  I was with a group of friends chatting to Steve Richards a few years ago - also 2019 IIRC, about Jim and Steve's cars and they had quite a collection (Steve is an Escort nut). I'd say the Falcon is still with them, but maybe someone here has more recent news.
