John has announced that he's stepping back from Toowoomba so he can concentrate on Sydney and Archerfield.

I only hope someone who knows about Speedway is involved in the laying down of the track surface.

They had a practice day yesterday and have been uploading videos onto the Eastern Creek Speedway Facebook page.

Judging by that, the new place looks pretty damn good. It has a Perth Motorplex vibe to it.

This season will be a bedding down one as the racers and track crew get used to the new surface and preping it to suit different weather days so next season will be the big test.

Will also be interesting to see how the Paramatta Specialists handle having a concrete wall on the outside instead of the wide expanses of the trotting track.

No Trev. I just thought it would be easier to put the news here rather than start a new thread.

The venue, well the track, has been very troublesome since day one.
Whoever decided what to build the track surface out of made a massive mistake and the whole track needs to be laid again is what I'm hearing.
Perhaps Zac or someone else a bit closer knows more.

Highline Magazine -
The Sydney Sprintcar and Speedway season has been thrown into turmoil once again with the latest breaking news confirmed in a post by the Sprintcar Association of NSW that "Unfortunately the season, which was due to begin on September 23 at Eastern Creek Speedway (ESC) has been cancelled.
Irreconcilable issues between the NSW Government and the promoters has allegedly been the catalyst for this action.
Rumours have been swirling behind the scenes for the past week or so that this action was imminent and it appears now that it has come to fruition with the promotional team allegedly being denied the rights to continue into the coming season or at the very least being unable to agree terms and being told to vacate the premises immediately.
Whether a new promoter/body/association can be found, approved and appointed in time to save the season remains to be seen without even considering whether any person or association would possibly even be suitably placed with the personnel and equipment needed at such short notice.
Further to the dilemma is the fact the NSW Sprintcar club had no country series or non-ESC events last season due to a number of factors and whether any of those tracks is even willing to negotiate with the club, let alone host a race meeting is yet to be determined.
At worst, Sydney will suffer through yet another season with no metropolitan speedway racing despite the Government committing huge money to build the landmark venue after the forced demise of Parramatta speedway.
Stay tuned, more to come – no doubt.

The entire SEASON  :o  OMG, there was no need to kill PCR to begin with (stupid trainline could have been easily moved), then far too long to build the new venue and now this ... that's a great way to kill the sport completely.

Although a long video I think that it pretty well sums up the situation in regards to the new speedway.

There's actually a great upside to Eastern Creek Speedway being closed, and that was Gunnedah Speedway announcing that their final meeting for the 23/24 season will feature Sprintcars.

It'll be nice to have a Sprintcar meeting here as there hasn't been one for years, and really, there should've been Sprintcar races out around here and Dubbo when PCR was in closure.
