As much as I hate to hurt my own chances, in the interest of fairness I would like to point out a miscalculation.

Following Bathurst I was on 2275. A 4th and a 3rd on the Gold Coast is worth 249 which would move me to 2524, but the current standings show me on 2560.

Kostecki/Hazelwood did not quite lead every lap...157 laps led as Brown/Pye led 4 laps during the first four pit stop phases. The last car to lead every lap of the race was Johnson/Bowe in 1989. Certainly the first car to hold the effective lead at the end of every lap since then.

It is the highest number of laps led in the last 30 years - Whincup/Dumbrell led 133 in 2016 and Lowndes/Murphy led 129 in 1996.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: Finals System
October 09, 2024, 06:31:22 PM
Just thinking if this had applied in previous years...without proper research, potential champion changes:

2023: Waters
2022: Mostert
2019: Coulthard
2017: McLaughlin
2015: Whincup
2012: Lowndes
2011: Lowndes
2010: Dumbrell  ???

* Depending on the season, based on either the final two rounds after Bathurst or the final three rounds.

Those session times are off by an hour; that page on the website doesn't take into account that we'll switch to Daylight Saving before then. Thursday to Saturday will start at 7:30:

Quote from: AlbertM on August 18, 2024, 03:58:32 PMCan anyone tell me what these letters mean on live timing?

LSP, LSD, and LCD.
LSP is Laps Since Pit.

Not 100% sure on LSD and LCD; the fact they are the same as laps completed in this race suggests to me it could be Laps Since Driver change and Laps completed by Current Driver which will be relevant for Sandown and Bathurst.

For me I just have very little interest these days. I still watch most of the races but have no desire to discuss the series. I was excited for Gen3 to come in at the start of last year but for me it has made zero difference. It particularly pains me to see what the series has done to Bathurst; last year was genuinely one of the most boring races I have watched.

Similar to Sonic I'm much happier going to a state or club-level event. It's crazy to think that even just five years ago I could name every race winner of the previous decade; now I couldn barely tell you who has won the races this year.

Formula One / Re: F1 2024 Season

An idea I had for a potential layout change to aid overtaking: go around the roundabout at Portier and move the chicane from its current location closer to Tabac. Add a DRS zone after the tunnel and have a system where the driver in front must pick a lane 150m out from the chicane (they cannot just drive down the middle of the road).

The issue I can see is that with the extra speed, any sort of collision would result in a big accident and there is almost no run-off where the chicane would be.

There is another SpeedSeries event at SMP which is Sydney Motorsport Park 1, but without TCR on the schedule.

Quote from: mikeamerica84 on November 27, 2023, 10:25:51 AMHEY!  Something completely different.

Were there five bonus points awarded to the fastest lap getters this round?  Crompo and Skaifey were harping on fastest laps all weekend.

Kye?  I need you right now, my friend.  :)
Not for this event, no.

Interesting coincidence; when we thought SVG was leaving back in 2012 he had a double DNF on the streets of Olympic Park. Now he is actually leaving he has had a double DNF on the streets of Adelaide. They were only two multi-race events of his Supercars career where he failed to score points.

Barry has the same concerns that I do.
They should want to win by 168 points as Brodie would have been 18 points worse off (5th instead of 3rd in Race 1) in addition to SVG having an extra 150.

If Brodie and Erebus do manage to take both championships, it will be the first time since 2005 that Triple Eight have not had the leading driver for their brand of car in the drivers' championship, and have not been the leading team for their brand in the teams' championship.
