Quote from: stevo qld on February 21, 2024, 01:46:23 PMDoes anyone really expect that the cars, as presented, will really be the same as the actual race cars, particularly aero?
Yes.With no other chance to test the potential loss is greater than whatever might be gained by subterfuge.
Day 1 of testing and Max is playing with them.
Most interesting thing was that Horner and Newey were the only people in any team not wearing team uniform.

It appears Red Bull have gone radical and adopted the now discarded Mercedes "zero sidepod" design.
This is going to be fascinating. Is it just a bad concept or did Mercedes come up with the right solution but didn't know how to make it work?
Testing starts Wednesday.

Quote from: madbugger on February 05, 2024, 02:58:25 PMSurely Erebus have got to come out and address this issue. Speculation is going to hammer them if they don't
Absolutely. After a week of not addressing the issue properly we are now at the point where cheating their way to a Championship is gaining traction.
I have no idea what the true story might be but someone needs to come out and tell it yesterday.

Big issue is that they have to service nearly $50million of debt.
Who would lend them more money so they can keep their heads above water?

Quote from: Trevor on October 28, 2023, 12:30:50 PMGood god, I can't farken stand listening to Skaife dribble so much 888 stuff and giving Feeney a verbal reach-around. Makes me wunna puke
I will resume watching Supercars on TV when he is no longer in the commentary team. That probably means never.
At least at the track when they put the TV commentary on the PA the cars tend to drown him out.

Quote from: Dasha on October 08, 2023, 11:06:54 AMOK i have tried to keep a positive attitude all year but after watching GM win all but one race this year & the pathetic attempt by supercars to look like they want to rectify the advantage GM have is just not good enough.
This has been going on now since the 90's.
Just look at how quick they slowed all the Mustangs when Scotty McLaughlin enjoyed a good year & which gave GM back the advantage.

I have a question to ALL the GM fans here on V8 Central. "Be completely honest & ask yourself how would you feel if things where reversed & the Mustangs had won all but one race this year. "Do you guys honestly think that what is going on with this so called parity is right, or for the good of the sport do you think that Supercars should have given the Mustangs what is needed so we can all enjoy some even close racing between both brands.

I have been watching the events at Bathurst & I am completely blown away by the way the commentators are trying to speak it up that everything is all good.
I wont mention the commentators name that said after the last qualifying before the top ten shootout "said something like "Theres no problem with parity" i thought "you have got to be kidding".

I did get my hopes up when the Ford teams tried to get the new areo package in the hope for a chance to keep up with the Camaro,s but should've known better.
I really didn't think i would see things get this bad, at least now it is clear & open to everyone that this sport is "corrupt" yes that is a heavy word but there's no other way to describe what we have witnessed this year.

Shame shame shame supercars, it will be a hollow win to the Camaros today.

No more hollow then 2019s Ford victory

The one that #17 was going to win regardless?
DJRTP certainly didn't think so...

Huh? It was so #12 didn't stack and lose positions.

Just for those with short memories:

https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/10/20/djrtp-team-orders-decision-evidence-and-relevant-submissions/

I believe  most people are fully aware of what happened and there is no evidence in those articles to say that the slowing down of Car #12 was to help Car #17 to win or the reason they won.

Literacy test needed.Read the first article again. There is a whole section on why the team bosses were upset because this was done to protect McLaughlin.Try and understand it made no difference to the time Coulthard left the pits whether he was double stacking behind McLaughlin or crawling down Conrod.
It was transparent cheating.I was at the track and was aware of the fill times needed by the different cars. The moment I saw Coulthard crawling down Conrod I said to the person next to me that he was doing it to give McLaughlin the win by delaying the other cars with shorter fuel fill times reaching their pits.No wonder the Penske team boss had an attack of the guilts shortly after and basically left the sport.

Quote from: fordman on October 13, 2023, 07:14:39 PMI think in 2018 one team crawled over the mountain whilst under SC to escape a double stack??? wonder who that was???
For a long time there was no specific rule against crawling to the pits after the boards came out. That changed after a HRT car (Courtney?Tander?) did it so blatantly the airwaves melted with comments from the drivers stuck behind.

I was up at Skyline for the Shootout and although I find that Ford v GM tribal hyping pretty stupid a lot of the Bathurst crowd don't.Much more prevalent at Bathurst than a normal Championship round.
And yes the GM support was much greater than the Ford support up there.

No it wasn't.It was to back up cars that had a much shorter fuel fill time than 17 and would have jumped that car.
I'm a neutral in the GM v Ford thing but that was possibly the most shameful unsporting thing I've ever seen at Bathurst and it is a good thing that Storey and the other decision makers are gone.

Of course Skaife should never be anywhere near a microphone - or the management of a race category for that matter.

The parity cloud really threatens to overwhelm the weekend.Given that the real picture won't be shown until the cars complete a full stint on Sunday plenty of room for debate before then.
Hypothetical. If the first 25 laps of the race are safety car free how far will the leading Ford be behind the leading Camaro?

Dutton going full Hanson on The Voice is a disgrace. If it is defeated we will wake up the next morning with the world looking at us as though we are the new apartheid South Africa.
It needs to be a constitutional amendment to stop it being removed in the event a right wing populist comes into government and promises it to their racist base.
After his walk out on the apology......Not necessarily saying he is racist but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....

I think if you replace a part that causes a DNF due to failure, that part can be replaced without penalty. No other parts though. A DNF in this era is enough of a penalty by itself.
I think you misunderstand the purpose of the rule.Grid penalties are a way of forcing teams into cost containment. The whole power train system is so expensive there are probably only 3 teams on the grid that could afford to go past the current allocation without a lot of financial pain even if there wasn't a cost cap.
The rule is to force manufacturers into building reliability into the units. That some of them fail so spectacularly is a preview of what would happen without the rules.
