TCR Australia / Re: 2023 TCR Australia Season
March 01, 2023, 08:20:09 PM
The ridiculous calendar that had TCR going to Tassie in February and then waiting until May for the next round is the cause of the low numbers, as a number of competitors just thought they'd wait for round 2 on the mainland.

The coverage said a Lynk & Co team is coming, and its been alluded that Clemente will change to a Cupra. Not sure on King and Nathan Morcom.

ARG shot themselves in the foot with this meeting. Why schedule TCM at Symmons last week and then Newcastle next week?

Also the World Tour only has 4 entries so suspecting that will be still born.

At the moment there's four Audi's, four Lynk & CO's and two works Hyundai's announced, with JAS Honda still to confirm their program but outwardly their social media is reporting on TCR World Tour news so you'd assume they are in.

How will a 4-door body shape fit over the Gen3 chassis?

Having taped the Saturday races, as scheduled on Sunday morning, but in the middle of the night, I turned to the tape later this morning.

The broadcast started with about 4 laps to go, then they wiped out a chuck with advertising.

But it was a very exciting 3 lap highlight package. :o

bring back Channel 10. ;D

7 show what they are given, same as 10.

Blame Supercars and Foxtel, they are the rightsholders

Will's only 40 and has shown ADP the way in the last two rounds. You'd replace him at your own peril at the moment.

Presumably they will cancel the weekend to save the cars for Bathurst, won't they?

they are all available, out there, 1983 is on you tube

Unlikely that the '72 ATCC round at Surfers as referenced in the opening post is though.

Earliest live coverage of an ATCC round I've seen is the 1977 round from Sandown (excluding the '76 Hang Ten that counted for both ManChamp & ATCC)

Every chance the race was shown on TV, but little chance the footage is still around, someone would have dug it up by now.

Castrol and Shell sponsored films may have some footage of it, but a lot of the Shell films were destroyed in a fire 20 odd years ago

Not sure I like this. Mandating that teams must have certain themes for different rounds just doesn't sit well with me

Why? NRL, AFL, BBL all require teams to wear indigenous jerseys so whats the difference here?

NRL certainly does not require that, because not every team does it. Same with all their other "special rounds"

Just need some more car announcements now

One assumes we may see a bigger "invitational" class this year

The same amount of ads that FTA has had for the last 50 odd years?

Switching to paddles would have taken them closer to what touring cars should be.

Retaining a gear lever for the foreseeable future renders them even further down the path of non-touring cars...

Crazy decision for a category with no level ground at the moment. Most punters barely even knows it exists, let alone are wanting to pay to watch it.

Didn't read the whole article, but from what I did read, they are going done the same path as Supercars (And every other sport in the country) of PayTV as main provider & FTA as 2nd provider...

What will the whingers say about this, let me get my pop corn!!

Personally I think it's great this category has grown from having to pay to be on TV, to getting pay to be on TV.. good news!

what are the Stan fees?

For Stan Sport it's $10 on top of whatever base package you already have, so maximum $30 a month.
We'll worth the money

It's better for Indycar fans in Australia for it to be on Stan than Foxtel. Stan is owned by Channel 9, so it opens up the possibility for some races (eg... Indy 500) to be shown on FTA is ratings work out ok.

Stan is worth getting in 2022. Live Indycar alongside live WRC and live WEC and Le Mans

1x Gruppe M Mercedes
1x GPX Martini Racing Porsche
