OK i have tried to keep a positive attitude all year but after watching GM win all but one race this year & the pathetic attempt by supercars to look like they want to rectify the advantage GM have is just not good enough.
This has been going on now since the 90's.
Just look at how quick they slowed all the Mustangs when Scotty McLaughlin enjoyed a good year & which gave GM back the advantage.

I have a question to ALL the GM fans here on V8 Central. "Be completely honest & ask yourself how would you feel if things where reversed & the Mustangs had won all but one race this year. "Do you guys honestly think that what is going on with this so called parity is right, or for the good of the sport do you think that Supercars should have given the Mustangs what is needed so we can all enjoy some even close racing between both brands.

I have been watching the events at Bathurst & I am completely blown away by the way the commentators are trying to speak it up that everything is all good.
I wont mention the commentators name that said after the last qualifying before the top ten shootout "said something like "Theres no problem with parity" i thought "you have got to be kidding".

I did get my hopes up when the Ford teams tried to get the new areo package in the hope for a chance to keep up with the Camaro,s but should've known better.
I really didn't think i would see things get this bad, at least now it is clear & open to everyone that this sport is "corrupt" yes that is a heavy word but there's no other way to describe what we have witnessed this year.

Shame shame shame supercars, it will be a hollow win to the Camaros today.

Quote from: AlbertM on September 21, 2023, 04:24:13 PMHilarious!  Camaro dominates with clear and now proven advantage. Supercars essentially have done nothing but fiddle around the edges.

But the possibility of Mustang getting new aero, Some are concerned about that it will unbalance the results and dominate. So Supercars better be careful.

The Bowtie Boys sure are laying a solid foundation for a soap box if Mustang wins Bathurst.
Spot on once again AlbertM, after Supercars have gifted GM with the championship i am just hoping that the Ford teams get the change they need before Bathurst & dominate.
Heck why not, the Camaros have dominated all year I think its about time Ford get a win, & it would be very nice to win Bathurst. We can only hope.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: Gen 3

Ok ill buy into this Gen 3 discussion. I understand there has been allot of work go into getting the Gen 3 cars built & tested but it is a bit disappointing that it is taking so long to get parity between the Camaro & Mustang.
But on the other hand it is encouraging that they are working towards getting the parity issue sorted.
On the other hand the 5 kg weight that was added to the Camaro seemed a bit soft, I just hope it doesnt take the whole season to get it sorted.

all i can say is "what a total balls up"

Yes it really is, I understand it would be a very complicated process but they have had plenty of time testing the two cars & for it to get so close to race day & it seems there is allot more work to be done.

We are nearly there, getting excited!!! Lets hope they get the parity somewhat close & it's not a complete **** fight!!

Hear, hear!
Yes i have been thinking the same thing, i dont want to start the old "parity" debate, but i just hope that parity between the two brands is achieved & we get some good racing without one brand dominating.

Nostalgia / Re: "The greatest motor race EVER"

Thanks for posting that Albert, that warmed my heart as I have always loved the Ford V Holden at Bathurst.
Even though there has been more heartache than Joy I will still miss the Blue V Red ( Ford v Holden ) theme at Bathurst.
But hopefully there will still be a Ford V GM theme with the Gen 3.
I dont want to start a parity argument but I just don't want to see what happened to the Mustangs when Scotty Mclaughlin won a heap of races & copped so many parity adjustments that gave the Commodores an unfair advantage. just look at how many races Shane won this year, there was no parity adjustments against all the Commodores.
Let me qualify that I dont think Shane V should have had parity adjustments made against the commodores as he was simply the best driver out there, just as Scotty was the best driver out there at the time.
Anyway I am getting off topic, fingers crossed that the introduction of Gen 3 will be successful.

As a ford fan I have to say that I am gutted I dont know what it is about Bathurst, the mustangs can do some quick laps during practice etc but just don't seem to be able to mix it with the Commodores at the pointy end.
I am not trying to make any excuses at all the Commodores won it fair & square, better drivers & co drivers & where able to stay out of trouble.
To be totally honest as a Ford fan I feel very frustrated & disappointed.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: Alex Davison

Yeh I agree with all the above comments, I would've loved to see Scotty M to make it over for the co driver gig with Will D but obviously just not possible, so hopefully Alex can do the job & bring the car back in one piece so Will D can be out front for the last 30 lap sprint home.  8)

Repco Supercars Championship / Alex Davison

Really looking forward to Bathurst this year & would love to see Will Davison win it in the # 17 Shell Mustang.
Will has shown some fantastic form this year & I am sure he will do a good job at the mountain but I dont know much about his brother Alex, at 42 does he still have what it takes to help keep the Shell Mustang in a position to win it.
Would like to hear what others think about Alex as a co driver, does he still have the skill & speed  ?

Just so happy for Will Davison, to get the win for DJR, & finish in front of Giz, hope they can carry that pace to Bathurst.

He's 40...how long would you sign him for?

At least 2 years. There is no driver even close to him that is off contract in 2023 or 2024.
Yes I agree, I think a two year contract would be a good move.
He has shown that he can still compete at the top level.
Just going off topic, I would love to see him win Bathurst in the # 17 Mustang, just hope they can give him a top level co driver.

Just watching the qualifying at Hidden Valley & Wills Poll lap in the # 17 Mustang was very impressing.
So made me think what plans DJR have for the # 17 seat in 2023.
In my opinion he has proven he can still win races & who would you replace him with ?
My personal opinion is that I believe he has the goods to keep the # 17 in 2023.

Whats your opinion ?

Some realy interesting comments, I can understand & respect that there is different opinions.

But as I have mentioned "the main thing I have loved about this category over the years has been the Red V Blue side of things.
Although there will be no Holden branding next year, there will still be a GM V Ford element, so I will still be cheering for the Blue oval V the GM Camaro.

I have been following the sport since the Touring car days from 1980 & have always been a Ford fan after following Dick Johnson who has kept his loyalty to the Ford brand & I think that DJ has stayed loyal to Ford due to his beginning with the rock & the way the Ford fans got behind him & basically kick started his career.
To be honest if DJR went to Holden / Chev it would break my heart as I have always seen DJR as a Ford team.
I totally understand that drivers have to go where they think they have a better chance of building a successful career, but to be honest there is something about loyalty that appeals to me..
In other sports like AFL you can have a favorite player & when he or she moves to another club to be honest it does get you down, especially when you see then in a club you don't like & they kick your butt   ;)

Anyway what I am trying to say is that I do like following certain drivers that you like & they stay loyal to the brand also the main reason I have followed the sport is the Ford V Holden rivalry, now Ford V Chev rivalry which I believe is the main thing that people that follow Supercars.

So after saying that what do the rest of you like about the category, is it the old Ford V Holden / Chev rivalry or a certain team or driver ?

This is great news as far as I am concerned & to have Mostert back with the blue oval is fantastic.
Also having more competitive Fords out there especially for Bathurst can only be a good thing. ;) ;)
