Bon appetit.
#5
Well, I was shoveling out the driveway this morning and when I was all done I thought to myself, "Is there anything left to do in life today?"

Ahh.... the Winter Season.  Always "fun".  ::)

I then realized we needed a spolier thread for Round 1!  Personally I want to see how Brodie is going to go with DJR right off the bat.  But there is always a lot to look out for on opening day.   :D

Manufacturer - Choose 1:

Open to ANY type of proper model/make for our series and not limited to what is currently run, that being Ford or Chevrolet.

Throughout the season:

A maximum of THREE car changes (total) will be allowed for Groups A-E up until the Playoffs begin at Round 11 at the Gold Coast 500.  After that, for Rounds 11-13, only ONE change will be allotted for each team NO MATTER HOW MANY CHANGES YOU HAVE MADE UP TO THAT POINT.

A maximum of THREE reshuffling changes (total) will be allowed in the Tiebreaking Group.  These reshuffles are independent of your Groups A-E changes and can be made at any time of the season.

Changes made prior to Midnight Thursday Sydney, NSW time prior to the upcoming weekend round will go into effect for that round. Changes after Midnight Thursday, Sydney, NSW time, will go into effect for the next round. Sydney, NSW time, will be used for the V8CFL with respect to time stamps for all rounds.

Car changes must be made within the same group.

Points are scored by cars – not drivers. For example, if you have Car 8 on your team, Andre Heimgartner is that driver to start the season with. If he vacates Car 8, for whatever reason, and another driver takes over, you will still have Car 8 on your team. If Heimgartner subsequently starts driving Car 55, and you do not have Car 55 on your team, you do not have Heimgartner as a driver. You still have Car 8 unless you change cars in that respective group. Car 8 gets you points. Car 55 does not – unless you make a change to pick up THAT car in that group.

For the enduro rounds, whoever pairs up with the drivers in your cars, is on your team, but the car (number) still gets the points – whoever is driving.

Please use the applicable Team Registration thread to make changes. Do not PM me with them. I want everything out in the open for all to see.

************

Points and scoring:

Each RACE will be scored for points.

All rounds: Your total points tally from all of your Group A through Group E cars will be used to determine where you finish for the given race.  Eight cars.  The Tiebreaking Group will not obtain points – only used to break any ties.

Five bonus points for the fastest lap at each race other than the Enduro Rounds will be added to your total if you have that car on your roster. As per 2024, the fastest lap is only eligible for bonus points if that driver/car finished in the Top 15 of the race.  This is a Supercars rule.

Based on your total points, you will be placed in a finishing position/order. Whatever points per race the Supercars are issuing for that given race, the V8CFL will also issue, based upon where you finished with your total point tally. For example, winners will receive either 300, 150, or 75 points.

The Tiebreaking Group will be used for just that - tiebreaking purposes. The highest finishers in the group will break the tie. It does not matter where your Groups A through E cars finish, the Tiebreaking Group will decide the tie. Each participant will have all five cars in the Tiebreaking Group in a listed order. That order will be your preference for breaking any ties.

For example:

If Participant A has the Tiebreaking Group order as 1-88-6-38-25
& Participant B has an order as 6-25-1-88-38:

It comes down to who finished higher – Car 1 or Car 6.  Let us say Car 1 tops Car 6 by four places, in this case, Car 1 wins the tiebreaker for Participant A.  If both participants have the same car listed first in the order, it will go to the second.  As listed above, Car 88 v. Car 25.

If still tied after that, we will go to the third car, and so on.

Cars must be classified/score points to be utilized in the tiebreaker.

There will be NO identical teams. If there are, I will request the last participant forming the identical team to change something. There can be identical teams with respect to Groups A, B, C, D, & E being the same eight drivers, or the Tiebreaking Group being the same order of the five drivers, but not both (Groups A-E AND the Tiebreaking Group).

Sometimes teams change car numbers for various purposes. A change in car number from 11 to 100, for example, does not exclude the 11 Car from scoring. It will be recognized without saying that the 100 Car is/was/will be the 11 Car and scored accordingly.

Tiebreakers (in conclusion):

All ties will be broken using the following formula:

1) Highest finishing first chosen Tiebreaking Group car (points-wise) in race.

2) If tied, highest finishing second chosen Tiebreaking Group car (points-wise) in race.

3) If still tied, highest finishing third...fourth... and fifth.

4) If the Tiebreaking Groups are identical for two or more teams, the highest finishing car in Groups A-E will break the tie.

If prior to a racing weekend, two teams attempt to form identical team rosters (all eight cars the same in Groups A-E and likewise order in the Tiebreaking Group, I will not allow the last change requested.

There will be no late signups.

PENALTIES: Any points penalties levied against any team or driver by Supercars will be fully recognized by the V8CFL. Said penalty, however, must be assessed due to a violation during a race, or post-race inspection.

If a penalty is levied against a driver or team for a rules violation during qualification, practice, or something bizarre such as a pit garage fight/scuffle, the V8CFL will NOT recognize the penalty. It must be directly related to the racing, or race incident.

CAMS Stewards Summaries will be the guideline for any penalties.

Media Centre:

Once again our public relations guru TheArrow will be in charge of this department for 2025. It is already up and running.  Have fun with it.  He and Helix would be more than happy to help you with cars and liveries.

************

We will also have the V8 Central Fantasy League Tournament and an Enduro Cup.  Details to come.  The Tournament will not start until Round 2 at the AGP.

Please feel free to ask questions on this thread, and this thread only, so all rules/points breakdowns will be clear to all. Chances are, if YOU have a question, someone else has the same question. Ask.

I reserve the right for final say in rules whether that be a clarification or change due to a conflict.

************

In conclusion for 2025:

For Group A you will choose two cars, but you cannot choose both the 1 and the 88.  You can choose neither if you so desire, but not both.

Each race will be scored for points. Group A through E cars (eight cars) count for points. The Tiebreaking Group will not.

The Tiebreaking Group is the Group A cars and will be used as the tiebreaking formula for all rounds (reference above). If this group does not break the tie, we will revert back the highest finisher of the Group A through E cars for the tiebreaker.  You will choose ALL FIVE CARS IN THE PREFERRED ORDER.  This means BOTH the 1 and 88 cars will be placed in that order somewhere.

You are allowed THREE changes total in Groups A through E up until Round 11 at the Gold Coast.  No matter how many changes you have made up to that point, you will only be allowed ONE change total for Rounds 11-13.

You are also allowed three reshuffles (total) in the Tiebreaker Group.

Reshuffles can be made at any time whether you have made any Groups A-E changes or not for that round.

Thank you for participating in 2025. Deadline for signup is MIDNIGHT THURSDAY SYDNEY, NSW TIME PRIOR TO ROUND 1 at Sydney Motorsports Park

V8 Supercar Fantasy League / 2025 V8CFL - General Chat
January 21, 2025, 10:25:31 AM
A new year is upon us for the 2025 V8 Central Fantasy League.  The tenth year in the current format.  stevo qld and Ecurie SCarGo are our defending champs.

Supercars has now introduced a playoff system, much like NASCAR did back in 2004.  The playoff system will be taken into account but I plan on running the V8CFL without said system.  The only issue I can foresee is some of the drivers "lying down" after being eliminated from the playoffs.  This will be addressed in our 2025 rules.  But all V8CFL competitors will vie for the cup until the end of Round 13.  A playoff system is pretty much already in place for the V8CFL - The Tournament.  Maybe some day Supercars will steal our system and use it?   ;D

The groupings are pretty much set.  Many new drivers and drivers in different places.  There will be a couple of tweaks from last season that will be explained when the official V8CFL launch begins.

We will also have the Tournament and the Enduro Cup.

Note that this year there are 13 Supercars rounds vice 12 from last year.  As always, the first round will not be part of the Tournament.  I need to see how many members join up and set the Tournament schedule from there.
I cannot do it prior to the season.  This year Round 1 is SMP.

So sit tight and by the end of the week the 2025 season will commence.

Feel free to use this thread to bat banter back and forth across the net throughout 2025.

Repco Supercars Championship / 2025 Grid?
January 21, 2025, 06:45:23 AM
I have put the pot on the stove and have started making the V8 Central Fantasy League stew for this year.  It will take a little while to cook with periodic stirring with the wooden spoon.

I need some help with a few ingredients:

Has DJR and Brodie settled on a car number?  I understand the 11 will no longer be in their fold.

Stanaway is off to PremiAir and will be 62 this year?  A flip flop from his 26 of last year.

Cooper Murray will run the 99 for Erebus?  Makes sense. That was Brodie's old number before he went with the 1 last year.

Brown will run the 1?  I do not think he HAS to for he can keep the 87, but he is?

I got most of these spices off of the Wiki shelf in the cupboard.  They still list the DJR Cars as 11 and 17 though.  Maybe an expired date has been reached on that bottle, eh?

Other than the above I have the stewing meat, corn, potatoes, carrots, and onions.  Anything else you blokes add to your pot?   :D

8°F here today.  Stew will hit the spot.

Repco Supercars Championship / Sandown Update
October 03, 2024, 10:53:57 PM
Pretty cool when you can read Aussie news all the way over here across the Pacific:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/supercars-track-sandown-gets-a-reprieve-after-board-changes/ar-AA1rDAS9?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=DCTS&cvid=2d146e2120fc4bc4804f0a57d0e25e26&ei=79

Supercars track Sandown gets a reprieve after board changes
Story by Phil Branagan

The historic Sandown Park motor racing track in Australia has been saved for the immediate future after being given a reprieve from the developers.

The track, which for more than 60 years has hosted motor racing and horse racing in the same Melbourne suburban location, has had its medium-term future assured after a change in the make-up of the Melbourne Racing board on Thursday.

John Kanga was voted in as the new MRC chairman at a special board meeting, after the resignation of former vice chairman Nick Hassett. The board oversees the horse racing activities at Sandown and other Melbourne horse racing tracks at Caulfield and Mornington.

Kanga and his new board are opposed to selling the 112 hectare site for the development of up to 7000 new homes in the Melbourne suburb of Springvale. Currently houses are located less than 150 metres from the circuit.

These residential development plans had previously threatened the future of the circuit.

As a car and motorcyle racing venue, Sandown has been at the forefront of the sport in Australia since its opening in 1962.

Before Formula 1 came to Adelaide in 1985, Sandown was prominent in the Tasman Series and first hosted the Australian Grand Prix in 1964, when it was won by Jack Brabham.

In 1968 the Sandown GP winner was Jim Clark, in 1972 and '73 (both Graham McRae), 1976 (John Goss) and 1978 (McRae). A temporary extension saw the 3.1km track lengthened to 3.88km so it could host rounds of the World Sportscar Championship in 1984 and 1988.

The track has also hosted the traditional 500km Supercars endurance race, which was won last month by Will Brown and Scott Pye for Triple Eight.

The board changes mean Sandown will avoid the same fate as the Pukekohe Park Raceway in New Zealand.

Motor racing activities at the famous Kiwi circuit ceased in April 2023 after owner Auckland Thoroughbred Racing elected to expand its horse training activities.

It means that New Zealand was absent from the Supercars calendar in 2023, before returning this year with a new event at Taupo International Motorsport Park.

"The board changes mean Sandown will avoid the same fate as the Pukekohe Park Raceway in New Zealand." - But we are not racing cars at Pukekohe anymore.  Is this article just saying that the horse track will be saved?

Sonic, please walk down the street from your house to the track and get us some inside scoop.
