Oh, OK. Last verse: The deal SVG signed for 2024 wasn't for the best money (or probably not even the best chance of winning). There was a loyalty factor to the man and team who gave him the opportunity in NASCAR and put the deal together. Fancy that.

That point is debatable, and in SVG's case, he has chosen the lesser money for the better chance of winning before. One choice he made that some love to regurgitate was to not race at all rather than get locked into a non-front running team. FWIW, he is running both the second tier and main series of NASCAR for a total of 40 races, but nobody would think he's doing it for free :o.  (Sheesh! Who brought SVG into this?)

Quote from: Trevor on December 20, 2023, 05:14:52 AMNo loyalty with any driver these days, they go where either the money is or why their money buys a ride. SVG proved that point post Stone Brothers
To use SVG as an example: The very best drivers get to choose where they go. They go where they have the best chance of winning, and money is not their main motivation.

Mustangs doing better than the rest of the Camaros - despite DJR rarely featuring in the results. DJR has been the leading Ford team for the last decade, probably the leading or equal leading Ford team for most of the Supercar era, yet somehow hasn't yet got on top of the Gen 3 cars. DJR is not only not getting on equal terms with the Camaros, it's gone backwards against its Ford opposition. That's a DJR issue, not a parity one. Last year DJR finished 2nd and 4th in the championship. (Remember last year? Fords finished the year in 2, 3 and 4.) The DJR cars are currently 9th and 18th.

Cam saying he threw everything at that race and still went backwards shows there is issues to be sorted between Mustang and Camaro.
The Camaro needs more weight bolted onto and around its engine.

The main issue is the Ford Coyote is a modern DOHC 4valve with VCT versus a dinosaur pushrod V8 that has always used a boring bar for any power increases.
Maybe the comparable GM engine would be the LT6. It's a modern, 5.5 litre DOHC 4 valve with VVT. It's considerably lighter than the 5.4 Coyote, but the main issue would be that the current, production version produces 500kW, which is considerably more than the current Ford and GM Supercar race engines make.

"Source"  ;D . Excellent - and thank you stp01.
Both drivers were pushing the boundaries, both gave as good as they got, no-one punted anyone off (not at the front of the field, at least), the incident was investigated and clarified by DSO Baird (although he said that both came close to being penalised) and we can move on. All we need is for Cam Waters, Mostert, and a few others to join the party and we can all enjoy the racing.

Saw a quote from Giz... something along the lines of "defending is ok but I should then be allowed to hit him"
Has someone got the actual quote?  If we're going to have this discussion based on the van Gisbergen/Kostecki pass and SVG's comment (something along the lines of  ::)): "I should be allowed to hit him", maybe we should apply V8 Central's 'Quote your sources' rule, even if that rule doesn't get applied these days. It sounds like something SVG might say, but if it's followed up with an assumption that it "shows a total lack of ability", it'd be good to have the actual quote.

...and here's the explanation for Baird's reasoning: https://www.v8sleuth.com.au/why-erebus-protest-was-dismissed/
(probably not how SVG would explain it.)

What level of motorsport do you have to reach when it becomes not only ok but the expected thing to start punting people and damage be damned?
I didn't hear the quote from SVG that you referred to, but in answer to your question: It is not OK nor the expected thing to start punting people - and I don't believe you really think that is (or ever will be) the situation. I'd take more notice of those who make and apply the rules than anything a driver says anyway. Craig Baird has it pretty well sorted in relation to the Kostecki/van Gisbergen incident here:  https://www.v8sleuth.com.au/baird-refutes-new-rules-of-engagement-claim/

It's all good. Brodie is now one of only a couple of drivers (along with Cam Waters) not to be intimidated by SVG - but if he's going to keep blocking, he can expect to keep copping contact from the rear (and so can SVG if the roles are reversed). However, the only time (apart from the pass) that Brodie was pushed offline, SVG backed out of it. IMHO, Brodie didn't deserve a 'Bad Sportsmanship' flag, but both drivers agreed that they were pushing their luck. Maybe a few more drivers might follow Brodie's example now, and not be so intimidated by Shane. Bring it on...

I mistakenly thought this thread was about Gen 3 Supercars. Instead, I find that it is about Gen 3 Kindergarten. ::).
Not so much "about" Gen3 Kindergarten as "by".

Morrison, for all his faults, was selected by the Libs to keep Dutton from becoming Prime Minister.

Dutton, for all his faults, was then selected by the Libs to keep Dutton from becoming Prime Minister. So far, so good.

I wouldn't know. 'Newcastle Spoliers', wasn't it?
