Two very good races so far - hopefully the shorter races are alright over the weekend.

Interesting that Grove and T8 both went for quite a 'clean' livery - but I reckon both are actually probably an improvement on last year.

Quote from: stevo qld on January 31, 2024, 10:40:55 PMPS: it was not a Speedcafe scoop. In fact, their report was well behind the daily newspaper report.

Not that it really matters, but unless it was in the print version of the papers, the Speedcafe article at 11.30 is the earliest I can see online - with NewsCorp at 1.30pm.

It was also unusual to have the Supercars CEO make a statement. I think Erebus would have had to to word their statement in a way that it was Brodie's choice as otherwise they would be in breach of contract.

Another strange part to me is that only half the sites reported AVL (Speedcafe)'s scoop - others have very much toed the line of the Erebus statement.

What teams, if any, would be prepared to pay out one of their contracts to hire Kostecki for this year (if he stays in Australia)? PremiAir is probably the only one that comes to mind in terms of financials and quality of driver line-up.

Quote from: muz on November 26, 2023, 11:48:44 PMWill we see Hazelwood back at BJR in the Jack Smith car? Or is there another cashed up rookie we don't know about?
Zak Best appears to be the favourite.

A pretty disappointing calendar overall but perhaps not surprising they kept it fairly safe considering the financial position.

Excellent race - very pleased that Waters held on

I don't mind having a sprint round at Bathurst, in fact I attended in 2021 and may well do so if they do it again, but this sounds like a very poor outcome. Assuming Newcastle is off and NSW must host, should be SMP under lights for Round 1 and then ideally add in QR/Winton/PI mid-year. A night race in early March should do better than August anyway without competing with AFL/NRL etc.

Feeney's sector times miraculously dropped off this year too on his inlap to a double stack. There was also another infamous one in about 2010 from memory - was it Tander?

Clearly the 2019 incident was a lot more premeditated and blatant but they are hardly the only ones to try that.

Quote from: muz on October 08, 2023, 06:59:29 PMIs that what happened with Frosty?! Man, did T18 let the work experience kid do strategy at the end?

I can't think of another more likely reason for both cars to pit that late - it was hard to tell but I think i caught a glimpse of his car sitting at the pit exit line during the celebrations.

Agree that the race had potential but didn't quite deliver - still some good storylines and moments throughout. Enjoyed the longer stints and some different strategy options. I did like the endurance nature of the 3 hour final green flag stint and starting to see some of the cars fail the test.

What on earth were Team 18 up to - both cars pitted (presumably out of fuel) in last two laps and then Frosty's stop was so late that the pit exit was shut and he wasn't classified.

Quote from: SetonFan on October 07, 2023, 05:54:34 PMI'm still surprised MSR picked Percat over him but yes this is the next best thing - especially with his Dane connection.

I'm not. Across a number of teams, Pye has had pace but never delivered results.

Percat delivered in his first stint with WAU, won at LDM - also a Bathurst podium at both teams as a full time driver. Was a winner and consistent Top 10 driver at BJR and has only struggled recently at WAU.

Pye does not have the same experience unfortunately.

Fair point - I am probably letting the dismal WAU years cloud my view too much. Hopefully for their sake he can rediscover his earlier form.
