do some homework on the Gen III cars will ya - look at who is building them
T8 have built the Camaro test car & DJR have built the Mustang test car. All teams are free to build their own cars (Team18 have recently announced they will be doing this), but teams will have to purchase their engines from the homoligated builder (KRE in the case of GM & Herrod in the case of Ford). Both T8 and DJR have had equal responsibility in regards to the "building" of the cars, so any favouritism to T8 will also be favouritism to DJR.
Opinions are one thing, but don't try and pass them off as facts.

Really sad news. Another one of the "classic" circuits looks to be gone for good :(

Great race! I'm glad to see Anton having a go at the end, I wish Pye had taken Giz with him at the start.

And Giz is such a dirty sportsmen..

Even when the bloke has done nothing wrong, people still try and bash him. In the heat of the moment, sometimes the last person you want to associate with is the one who just turned you around. Both Shane and Anton mentioned they discussed it off camera and everything was all good.
Imagine had it been a role reversal. Everyone would be labeling Anton as a hero for snobbing Shane. Don't deny it, you know it would be true.
Define "nothing wrong".. Yes the move by Anton didn't work & clearly Anton was in the wrong, but Giz dangerously pulling up behind Anton on the finish line instead on just overtaking, so Anton might get a bigger penalty is not smart or clever (like the moron commentators tried to tell us), it's dirty & bad sportsmanship. Then to snub Anton when his trying to say sorry, is scum!!

Hey, that's just me.. You are entitled to your own opinion.

I fail to see how pulling in behind him is classed as "dangerous" & "dirty", but I guess you only have to look at recent years of Scotty Mac to see that if you are dominating, people just find any reason to put you down. I completely agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter, but the dangerous word is one I would really like a more thorough explanation on.....

Those pics show that pole is off the racing line, but so is 2nd, so it doesn't make a big difference at Townsville.
I agree with you that it was a fun race - well, certainly not boring. There was plenty going on throughout the field throughout the race, but I'm having a think about what would make that race less boring and predictable for those who thought that it was. Maybe if Will Davison started on pole, but dropped behind SVG by almost 20 seconds after his second stop after taking on a big load of fuel,  but came blazing back to nail Shane with about two laps to go...  There's probably some who would regard that as a sleepy, predictable borefest - but it's hypothetical at best. (No offence, REM. It's still my shout at SMP :-*.)
Zaccy- if WD did that, there would be a subsequent parity adjustment for sure...😉
After Will's drive yesterday from 25th (and last) to 7th, there should be a parity adjustment coming up. Not "for sure", but there should be  :). The race speed from a damaged car was pretty impressive, both DJR cars come to think of it - and two of the Tickford cars as well.

Another good race, with neither race this weekend being a borefest - nor predictable, just the same winner. My humble opinion on that last corner was best summed up by Shane to Anton: "Congratulations for having a go - but what were you thinking?" So much for the snob/snub, whatever people want to call it. Within a minute of the snob/snub, SVG and ADP had a chat and both agreed it was all good, and let's have more of it. The attempted redress shows problems with redressing, although unlike JW at Bathurst, this one certainly wasn't dangerous (Joe). Probably not SVG's best idea to refuse the redress, but to think of it and do it in the few seconds he had after being punted at the last corner of 250ks of racing shows how he's always thinking while racing.

Bad sportsmanship award goes to Lee Holdsworth. What was he thinking? Out of character, from the little I know of him. Another good weekend of racing. Sometimes it seems more like WWE than motorsport as I know it, but I enjoyed it all the same. Well, not Tony Quinn's crash and injuries. Get well quick, Tony.
It was dangerous!! Do I need to remind you of Ingall & Perkins many decades ago at the finish line of QLD raceway in the castrol colours? It was bad enough that Anton slowed down, but Giz's made it 100 times more dangerous by playing games!

And yes Lee's form was pretty piss poor. Sounds like his out the door again, so probably pissed off. Poor guy, keeps getting shafted.

If this is the example you are stating for "dangerous", you need to realise that these were two completely different scenario's. Ingall was held up by a slower car and deliberately turned into his rear quarter to put him in the wall. At no point was SVG aiming to drill Anton into a fence. You are comparing Apples to an Orange. They are not comparable.

I like how the network has gone "back" to Red v. Blue when showing the order of the cars on the left hand side of the screen.

Good round for SVG.  He was in a class of his own.  Too bad for Will to be put behind the eight ball so early in Race 2.  And Pye for that matter - knocked completely off of the pool table.

Agree with you Mike. The whole last corner thing has shadowed how good a drive Will Davison had. He was fast, and to climb from last to where he finished in a bruised car was bloody impressive. Not a Davo fan by any stretch, but credit where it is due. I think he would have smoked the field had it not been for Pye trying to be a bit over eager to pass him.

Potentially reading too much into it but, could we see Coulthard in the Subway car for at least a round or two?

He posted a slightly cryptic photo of his helmet with the caption "next time I put my helmet on it might look different"...

Simply a new helmet? Or a new car?

I wondered the same thing when I saw it too.

I can't imagine he'd give up a decent shot at a Bathurst win over running around in 20th, would he? I mean, if he only does 1 or 2 rounds then he is still fine for the enduro's, but interesting nonetheless.

I read about the Chandra Wildcard for Bathurst and one of the versions includes this:
Quote"We would like to thank Bruce Stewart and the team at WAU for their support in providing one of their chassis and engines to support this entry."
https://autoaction.com.au/2022/07/01/chadha-bathurst-1000-wildcard-confirmed

I assume that there are a lot of parts that can be used from Chandra's two Super 2 DJR Falcons, but wonder about other parts that will need to be purchased to comply with current Super 1 regs. Brakes will be different. I cant really recall the major mechanical variations.

Maybe all the bits that are purchased and not worn out at Bathurst could be used to  to upgrade one of their Falcons to Mustang for 2023 Super 2.

I think that he is using (possibly purchased?) the spare Walkinshaw Chassis that O'Jeida has been running as the wildcard.

Scorecard on the weekend so far...

Practice & Qualy
Typical F1 weekend where V8's are playing second fiddle to the main show, but this is to be expected because at a V8 round, all the supports tend to get shafted in favour of more V8 track time. Certainly makes things interesting....

Race 1
Great win by Mostert. What a drive from Gizzy. To go from more or less last to the podium is very impressive. Shows how much a class of his own he is. Tyres threw in a mixed bag which obviously helped Gizzy make his way forward as 50% of the vehicles infront of him were shot after lap 12 - 14 from being on the softs for too long.
I don't think you could have really predicted the way the tyres would blister on every car. Maybe some, but not every car. A consequence of limited practice running.

Race 2
Will Davison continues to race really hard with everyone.... except Shane. I don't know if it is just the Shane factor or what it is, but every time Shane comes onto the back of Will, it's like he forgets how to race someone, then someone else comes along and he has his elbows out again. No wonder Gizzy wins everything when everyone moves out of his way. Regardless, it was really good race craft by Shane to put the move on where he did.
Cam Waters continues to be unimpressive this year, driving another person of the road. I know that he didn't mean to push Davison off the road, but it is another mistake by Cam and it looks like his challenge for the championship is over already.
The Courtney / Mostert last corner crash - I think Chaz was hard done by to receive a PLP for that. I know he hit him behind the rear wheel, but had he not been driven off the road the corner before, he would have been beside the door. I can see where Courtney is coming from, but I believe he had some involvement in the crash. On the back of this however, I was very glad to see Holdsworth on the podium.

Race 3
Same same really. More Gizzy domination.

See what tomorrow's race brings.

It's about time that Dunlop & Supercars develop a proper Wet Weather tyre. I understand it is about costs, but how much value for money does the Sponsors & the punters get to watch 3 laps of Safety Car running, followed by A red flag for an hour. Kids at 8 get thrown in a Go-Kart in monsoon weather and go fine, but the best drivers in the country can't handle a little bit of standing water? If you overstep the mark in the dry, you go off. It is the same in the wet, only you have to judge where the mark is.

Some may not agree, but I think it is embarrassing that we can't handle a race that is a little wet. I get when you have a freak downpour which totally soaks the track, but it seems to be less and less rain that causes a Red flag these days.

K-Miesta Motorsport joins the V8 Central Fantasy League

In what is being touted as the best kept secret in motorsport in 2022, K-Miesta Motorsport has today announced it will be competing in it's first season of the V8CFL. Little is known about the deal that has been put together at such late notice, but what can be confirmed is that K-Miesta Motorsport will be sporting a slightly used, yet still competitive Holden VF Commodore for the season ahead.

The striking, yet sponsor-less livery that has been drawn up using the Sim Racing Service, iRacing, has a similar feel to it as the 2012 Tekno Autosports Commodores, who at that time sported plain white VE Commodores in Round 1 of that years championship due to the lack of sponsors that were willing to pay naming rights at the time. There has been plenty of speculation this morning about the reasons for the lack of sponsors on the cars, but sources close to the team state that it is nothing to worry about and the financial stability of the team is strong moving forwards.

We reached out to the team principal of K-Miesta Motorsport Kennymiesta this morning for a little insight into the preparation that took place and the reasons as to why the announcement has only come less than a week out from the start of the Supercars season.

QuoteThe reason for the late announcement is purely due to lack of preparation. I saw the posts go up quite some time ago and just didn't get around to reading them. I really have mikeamerica84 to thank for getting everything across the line. If it wasn't for the messaqe in my inbox, we would have most likely missed Round 1 all together.

QuoteWe are excited for the year ahead. I've had some success in Go Karting and not much success in Simulator Racing. It is going to be quite different from the other side of the fence trying to guess who is going to finish where. I couldn't win a Chook in a Pub raffle, so when it comes to luck of the draw, I don't hold my head up high. All I can say is I'm going to use all my strategy and skill to study, assess and ascertain who is going to finish where. Knowing my luck, every car I pick will probably get a bad batch of fuel and DNF.

We are yet to have an official announcement as to who will drive the car, but due to the late announcement of the team, we suspect that Kennymiesta will pull a Jonothan Webb and drive the car himself until the team is able to find a suitable replacement. When asked this question, we were simply given a "no comment".

Another notable topic which came from the announcement was the decision to run the older VF Commodore as opposed to the newer ZB Commodore. This is what Kennymiesta had to say:

QuoteMate, iRacing wanted to charge me $14.95 for the ZB, but I could get the VF for $2.95. That means I got a car and I can still afford a Zinger Box for dinner tonight.

Cars will be on track from Friday for practice, before the first of two races on Saturday evening.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: 2022 Liveries
February 20, 2022, 11:34:27 AM
I think the biggest downfall of the WAU liveries is that last years cars just looked so good. It is hard to top a great livery. I'm not a massive fan of the way the white runs past the headlights rather than the headlight shape, but other than that, I think it looks pretty good. I think it would look better with black bonnet as per last years car, but from what I have heard, Mobil 1 wanted white background, and when they are forking out the money, they get the final say I guess.

Blanchard car looks awesome again. Looks even better in person with the finish of the blue than it does in the photo's. So simple, yet so effective.

BJR car is hit and miss. I can't put my finger on why, but it just isn't doing it for me.

I find it interesting that teams choose different tyre colors to match their liveries better for their releases.   :)
You know Mike, I hadn't even noticed until you pointed it out. Goes to show how little I was paying attention.

Those MSR cars look really good. A lot of sponsors on the car, yet it doesn't feel like a "busy" livery. Very well done.

Looking forward to the first of the two WAU cars tomorrow  ;D

Well, all I can say is what a race. It may not have been wheel to wheel at the end (except for GTD Pro), but it sure kept me on the edge of my seat for the majority of the race.
As weird as it sounds, I actually enjoyed how much attrition there was. It was a bit like a good ol' fashioned endurance race. I was quite upset that both the #3 and the #4 Corvette's ran into trouble, but not terrible considering it is their first run as a GT3 Spec (sort of) car. I didn't hear it confirmed. It was starter motor trouble for the 4 and an alternator for the 3? Is this correct?
And what a way to send off the current spec Prototypes. To have 4 of the 7 on the lead lap, all within 10 seconds of each other at the end is pretty impressive. I was hanging on for the #10 to go 4 in a row, but a great effort by the #60 Acura.
GTD Pro. What. A. Finish. Those two really put on a show. I wasn't sure how it was going to go without the GTLM class, but boy did they get it right! You really can't beat GT3 racing.
On a negative note, I was rather disappointed in some of the driving standards throughout the race. Some of the silly mistakes from so called professionals was rather sad to see. The thing that blew me away the most was the amount of cars running off the road on the outlaps during the night. I get it was near freezing cold, but when you are watching cars doing it for hours on end, you would think some of the other drivers would learn from what they saw. But, other than that, a great race once again. I will get track side to watch (or race, if I'm lucky  ;D) one day. It is absolutely on the bucket list of races I want to see live.

Bring on Sebring!!
