Post Gold Coast bump.

Well, skaifeman, you still pulled off a Race 2 podium!  You were the only GM product that had a podium this round.  Maybe the V8CFL parody adjustment went too far?  :D

With that, the Gold Coast Results are up.  TAA Performance is still at the top of the heap but Bump and Run Racing has moved into second place headed to the final round.

Race 1 Podium:
1 Brazen Autosports / Brazen / Ford Mustang
2 Kalyara Racing Team / Kytabu / Ford Focus ST
3 A1 SimSports / V8SuperRiley / Ford Mustang

Race 2 Podium:
1 Shogun Autosport / Helix / Ford Mustang
2 TAA Performance / Jetpac013 / Ford Mustang V6
3 Ain't Care Motorsports / skaifeman / Chevrolet Camaro

As for the Tournament, it will be TAA Performance racing against Bump and Run Racing for the trophy.  A battle of two Brock Division members.

No post-race penalties via the Stewards Summary.  All penalties were handed out as time penalties/drive throughs during the races.

I wish they could resolve the first chicane on the initial start of the race.  Start them somewhere else on the track, like a standing start AFTER the first chicane complex.

Not boring at all, Sonic mate.  There was some good strategy and at the end, if might quote out favorite commentator, it was on for young and old.  ;D

Quote from: falcon_cobra on October 28, 2023, 12:53:34 PMWhy did Brad Jones Racing cop a 30 Point Penalty? some time during Round 1?
Qualifying for Race 1:

Following a request from the Competitor for a Stewards' Hearing in relation to the penalty to be applied for a breach of Rule D11.8.2 (it is compulsory to use solid, incompressible components capable of supporting the Car in the event of a failure of the jacking system), the Stewards imposed the penalty of a fine of $5,000 ($2,500 of which is suspended until 31 December 2023 subject to there being no further breach of a similar nature) and a loss of 30 Teams
Championship Points on Brad Jones Racing (Car 14 Pit Stop infringement).

R&K Motorsports
Back-to-Back Enduro Wins!

Gorokan, NSW – Prior to the running of the Bathurst 1000, R&K Motorsports was coming off of a gigantic win in the first enduro at Sandown.  With co-driver Jaxon Evans having an overseas commitment and being unavailable for the Bathurst Enduro, the team hired driver/actress Renee Gracie to pair up with main driver Jack Smith.

Many said this was simply a publicity stunt concocted by Team Principal Mike, but the move bore major fruit as the team took honors at The Mountain and won back-to-back enduros!

"Yeah," replied Mike.  "Renee definitely held up her end of the bargain.  That wasn't my concern.  My concern was could Jack hold HIS end up!"

The defending V8CFL Champ Smith was stellar in his performance.

"Having Renee to compare myself to, well..... that was like comparing apples to bananas," commenced Smith.
"I knew I had to step forward and show the team that I could match her behind the wheel."

One reporter asked, "Jack!  Do you think you can match her on the big movie screen?"

Smith was blunt.  "No.  I get nervous when I am being watched."

Another reporter chimed in, "But Jack.  No one will be watching YOU!"

Chuckles filled the atmosphere.

Team Principal Mike then cut in.  "Okay, okay, boys.  Enough of that off-colour jocularity.  Let's keep this conversation professional with respect to racing.

"Our next goal is the championship in both the V8CFL and the Tournament.  We are in the Final Four and have a big matchup with T and A – uhhhh... I mean TAA Performance this weekend.  They are also atop the table."

The reporters then turned to Renee.

Although she claims to be ambidextrous, the lefty was quite popular at the driver autograph sessions as male fans brought some of her movie pictures.  No Barbie dolls were brought despite the one-off livery being a huge hit with the fans.

....and she appeared to be a tad worn out post race from the heat.

"What about you, Renee?  Are you going to try and find a ride in the V8CFL next season?"

"Well," she said while blushing like a schoolgirl, "Shogun Autosport might be hiring.  We'll see where Mr. Helix wants to go next season."

"I do know if I co-drive again I am not going to try and jam my backside into a skinny seat again.  Jack has no butt, man.  It was like I was on a bicycle seat the whole time.  Up the mountain.  Across the top.  Down the mountain.  Being flung back and forth through the corners."

With a wink she added, "My rear took a serious pounding!"

Chuckles once again filled the air.

"Okay.  Okay.  That's it for today," interjected Mike.  "She has irons in the fire for 2024.  Let's leave it at that."

"One last question," asked another reporter.   "How about at R&K, Mike?  Would you hire her for next year?"

"Well," started Mike scratching his jaw.  "That would depend on Jack's performance the next two rounds."

"What if he does not win the championship?"

"We'll probably fire him," returned Mike.

"What if he DOES win the championship?"

"We'll probably still fire him."

"What if he brings a bunch of money to the team to secure a ride for next year?"

"We'll take the money, THEN probably fire him."

Rumour has it the African Banana Bunch might be looking to get back into racing.

"A girl driver, eh?"

Thanx for chiming in, Westfield!  Good to hear from the locals.

Raise a beer at the start of the first race over there and I will raise a beer at the start of the first race over here.    This is called something like..... global friendship?  Something a lot of us need these days, mate.

Gold Coast deadline has come and gone.  Rosters are locked in.  Only Ain't Care Motorsports has made a change.

Between a tyre falling on the boot at Sandown and then Moffat destroying the car coming down the mountain, the one consolation Cam has is that he had no part of either of the messes.

Quote from: Sonic on October 24, 2023, 07:23:06 PMnope, not I... initial plans was 3 days at Calder for this weekend but with the sad loss of one of our flaggies a week ago there is a memorial service for him at Winton on Sun so I am trying to get there for that
Sorry to hear that, Sonic.  Hat tipped and head hung here in the States for your friend.

In the meantime I'll be watching the Gold Coast from here and continuing to plot my strategy for my trip down under next year.  I am waiting for the 2024 calendar to be finalized but I have to tell you, the Bathurst opening round is getting my attention right about now.   :D

Too early to make a call.

Back on topic - I am predicting a Brodie Kostecki white wash of the field.  Of course with the walls close, Frosty could take the weekend.

Always have loved the overhead shots of all of the swimming pools down off of the ocean side at the end of the backstretch!

The Gold Coast round is coming up soon.  Feel free to tweak your rosters.

It will also be the first round of the Tournament post-season.  Here are the two matchups:

TAA Performance (8-1)        v.  R&K Motorsports (6-3)
Ecurie Escargot (7-2)        v.  Bump and Run Racing (6-3)

Ironically, the first matchup is going to be a repeat of last round at Bathurst.  R&K Motorsports took honors.

In the second matchup, this is a repeat of TWO rounds ago at Sandown wherein Ecurie Escargot pipped Bump and Run Racing.

We'll see you all in the Fantasy garage!

I know I liked watching it on TV.  Looked very scenic unlike the Detroit IndyCar street race this year.  Someone said it looked like they were racing between warehouses and prisons.
