Absolutely amazing it is.  I have to agree with all above in the thinking that no matter what started this, when the sponsors start leaving there is a serious problem at the root.

And yes, I wonder if Coca-Cola will stick around in the sport now.

R&K Motorsports

Gorokan, NSW - Early pre-season turmoil at R&K Motorsports once again.  Last year it was driver Jack Smith destroying the new GEN 3 car in pre-season testing.  This season, as Jack has retired, they have apparently lost their choice 2024 driver somehow.

"So this Polish guy, Kosteckski, or whatever his name is, just WALKS out as we are ready to sign on with R&K again?  WTF?  Do we have a Plan B?  Hopefully not Stanaway again."

"Well, right now boss, there are not too many drivers to choose from.  The only one we have in the wings is Speed Racer's loyal primate mascot...."

"Chim Chim Racer."

As the top members of both R&K Motorsports and main sponsor Chiquita are now going ape ****, this is surely to be continued....

I would dig my heels in the same and not release him.  Let him sit and think about it for a year as the Red Bull drivers  and the newly improved Ford camps make ground and have success.

I do not know what the bottom line is here, but if Brodie is mad....... let him pout.

And THAT'S why we have the V8 Central Fantasy League!  No AI interference THERE!  Only the TRUE facts and reporting of the series!

Sign-up will be coming soon.

Well, it is either fake news or Brodie "will not be driving for Erebus this year."

You gotta "love" the media, eh fordman?   ::)

Okay, guys.  I am soft peddling it right now in lieu of the Brodie Kostecki news.  If he was officially sitting out 2024 it would be easy to form the group pairings.  But now it looks like it might only be for the opening round possibly?

We'll give it the rest of the week to see what happens but by early next week we will start the V8CFL driver biddings.

One thing I can always do is just pull that car from the groupings like we did with SVG a couple of years ago.  I would hate to do that but we will have to make our move soon.

The other thing I can do is just put the car in Group A with Todd and everyone can take a chance on it that Kostecki will be back.  I mean, by the rules, you choose the CAR, not the DRIVER.

This is huge and quite odd.  The guy should be on top of the world right now.

So I am going to put myself in BK's shoes:  Let's say I want something bigger and want it right now.  NASCAR?  There is no talk of him over here.  Childress already has his two car team in Kyle Busch and his grandson Austin Dillon.  Those two are not going anywhere soon.  RFK (Keselowski) is talking a third team, but.... nothing yet.  That leaves the Xfinity Series.

Now, SVG is coming over here to run a mixed schedule.  Brodie might want something like that?  But I will tell you this - had SVG not won the Chicago race on debut, he would be getting little ink in the news, a la Marcos Ambrose when he started over here.

Maybe move to another Supercars team?  If not RED Bull TER, who then?  Maybe DJR or Tickford?  Both stretches. The latter two maybe good for the long term, but not a step up short term.  BJR could always jam him in a fourth car but that would be a step back IMO.  Why would he even consider a step down as such?

Or maybe he is looking at the parody adjustments for 2024 and getting out while on top?  The Fords 'should' be better and the Chevy drivers will have more to deal with.

Maybe a sports car deal in Europe?  No news of him and IMSA here in the States.  I cannot think open wheel at this point in his career.  All of this is also a stretch.

Or perhaps he just wants more money?  A bigger slice of the pizza?  Who knows.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  The off-season just got way more interesting.

This isn't April 1st, is it?

You are quite welcome.  Other than the dirt track action, this is the start of our 2024 season over here.  Always a good watch.

And for Ford fans, they are back with Mustangs in GTD Pro and GTD.  Corvette is also supplying cars for customers now, too.

LMP2, albeit the spec class, is also entertaining.  There are drivers from every faction in that class.  IndyCar, Indy NXT, F2, Scotty Mac, Paul di Resta, and even Felipe Massa.

V8 Supercar Fantasy League / 2024 V8CFL - General Chat
January 18, 2024, 08:05:07 AM
The doors to 2024 have opened my friends.  Let us have a prosperous season ahead of us as we hold our glasses high in honor of TAA Performance and Jetpac013, our 2023 champion.

We will have a Tournament to go along with our V8CFL campaign, and Enduro Cups to boot.

TheArrow has opened up the 2024 Media Centre for us, also.  As in year's past, feel free to contact some of our members to assist with liveries.  I know Helix will be available - for Ford Mustangs.

Plenty of time to get our ducks in a row for the season.  These are early times.

In the meantime, we will wait out the Winter months here at V8CFL Headquarters in the States.

I maybe thought it referred to the layout/course to be used?

Definitely won't be the dirt track, eh?   ::)
