Just a general question tho, in the media section or i guess for any section, has the 800x800 pic limit been changed on this forum design?
No idea.  I say just keep posting until laser or LG tells you that you have stepped over the touch line.

Maybe The Arrow knows?  He is in charge.  Yeah.  Ask him!

Heimgartner carries over the R&J Batteries and Cub Cadet sponsorship.
Side on looks great, front on looks great. They just look like two different cars from the 3/4 view!
Agree 100%.  Looks good from the side with the white and red (nice color combo).  Looks good from the front with the black and yellow (good color combo).  But from 45° it looks like a Detroit Red Wings/Boston Bruins bench clearing hockey brawl.

A PM question came up with respect to the SVG Tipping portion of the 2022 V8CFL:

"I've read the rules and I'm not totally sure I understand the purpose?  Are members tipping where he will place for the round overall?"

I have added a clarification in the Rules thread.

Good question.  Glad it was asked.  Do not hesitate to inquire with V8CFL Headquarters, located in SW Michigan.  As I look out my window tonight, the wind is blowing hard and the snow is blasting sideways.

Clarification - SVG Tipping Comp:

For each round you will be required to tip SVG's finishing position.  If you tip him 4th, you have tipped him 4th for each race that round.  If you tip him 1st, you have tipped him first for each race that round.

You cannot tip him in Race 1 and then change the tip for him to finish in another position in Race 2, or Race 3.  The tip is for the whole round.

Points scored from the tip will be added to your V8CFL drivers' points and subsequently used to tally the race points.

If SVG sits out any race, the tipping comp is not applicable.  If he races a portion of the round, the tip counts.  A backup driver in the 97 car makes the tip for that race not applicable.

Thanks for ginning up the Media Centre, Arrow.

One thing I realized is that when the first round hits in March, I am scheduled to be at work all weekend long!  What a kick in the jimmies.  I'll do my best to produce the goods as quickly as I can, however I still planning on watching quallies, shootouts, and races first.

Formula One / Masi Replaced as Race Director

I thought this warranted its own thread.  He is still employed, though:

Masi Replaced as Formula 1 Race Director
By Mat Coch
Friday 18th February, 2022 - 12:22am

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has confirmed Michael Masi will be replaced as Formula 1 race director from the start of pre-season testing this year.

The announcement comes following a meeting of the F1 Commission on Monday at which teams were presented with, and unanimously voted in favour of, a number of changes.

That includes the implementation of a virtual control room to assist the race director and further assistance to those in that role.

Ben Sulayam also confirmed that Masi will be offered another position within the FIA, with the race director role set to be shared going forward.

"During the F1 Commission meeting in London, I presented part of my plan for a new step forward in Formula 1 refereeing," Ben Sulayem explained in a video posted by the FIA.

"I proposed an in depth reform of the organisation of refereeing and race direction it was unanimously supported by the F1 CEO and teams principals.

"Firstly, to assist the race director in the decision making process, a virtual race control room will be created, and like the video assistant referee var and football, it will be positioned in one of the FIA offices as a backup outside the circuit and real time connection with the FIA F1 race director.

"It will help to apply the sporting regulations using the most modern technological tools.

"Secondary, direct radio communications during the race currently broadcast live by all TVs will be removed in order to protect the race director from any pressure and allow him to take decisions peacefully," he added.

"It will be still possible to ask questions to the race director. According to a well defined and non intrusive process.

"Thirdly, unflapping procedures behind safety car will be reassessed by the F1 sporting advisory committee and presented to the next F1 Commission prior to the start of the season.

"Finally, I would like to inform you that a new race management team will be put in place starting in Barcelona for the test session.

"Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas will act alternatively as the race director, assisted by Herbie Blash as permanent senior advisor.

"Michael Masi, who accomplished a very challenging job for three years as Formula 1 race director following Charlie Whiting, will be offered a new position within the FIA.

"I presented this complete plan to the members of the world motorsport council and the Senate who gave their full support.

"With this plan. FIA opens the way for a new step forward for Formula 1 refereeing without the referees, there is no sport, respect and support of the referees is in the essence of the FIA.

"That is why these structural changes are crucial in a context of strong development, and the legitimate expectations of drivers, teams, manufacturers, organisers, and of course, the fans."

The FIA announcement came moments after the launch of the Ferrari F1-75 concluded, which had the sport's media attention.

These are the two things I thought should be highlighted:

"Secondary, direct radio communications during the race currently broadcast live by all TVs will be removed in order to protect the race director from any pressure and allow him to take decisions peacefully," he added.

"Thirdly, unflapping procedures behind safety car will be reassessed by the F1 sporting advisory committee and presented to the next F1 Commission prior to the start of the season.

Formula One / Re: F1 2022 season
February 16, 2022, 03:48:27 AM
I remember reading years ago when Minardi was a team that they would purposely short fill their cars with fuel to start the race for they knew they would be x number of laps in arrears at the finish.  The less weight might improve their chances of stealing a point was the strategy, I guess.

With that line of thinking, is it too far of a stretch to think that cars that are back markers, like Haas, Williams, etc., might plan their liveries so that the rear end of the car is more presentable?  Think about it:  When you are watching on television, the in-car camera of the car performing the lapping will have the rear end of the back marker in full view for all to see.

I just wonder if this factors in when sponsors "approve" the liveries.  I mean, who knows HOW F1 thinks.

Or maybe I am just bored.

We now have six approved teams as the defending champ has checked into the V8CFL Hotel.

Please check your rosters for accuracy, guys.  Also remember that you can change anything up until the opening round deadline without any penalty or using any of your allotted changes.

NASCAR / Re: 2022 NASCAR Season Has Commenced
February 14, 2022, 01:21:05 AM
Back in the 80s, NASCAR raced eight times per season on 1/2 mile tracks.  That is about 1/4 of their calendar.  The cars then seemed to be less balanced in quality and sometimes drivers won by more than a lap.  When bumping cars out of the way occurred it was generally the lead cars bumping the cars to be lapped.  If a driver bumped another contender out of the way for the win, then paybacks at the next race, or somewhere down the line, would occur.

I always felt if you wish to push someone out of the way for the win, that is fine, but do not do it on the last lap.  Give the guy a chance to get back up to your boot and repay you.

Now the cars are so similar, and with the wave around and stage racing, it is all jam packed together.  The pushing and shoving has gone was past the tipping point for me.  Certain fans like that but I prefer the drivers showing a little respect for each other.
