If he's stressed and needs to chill out, I know a team who has some spare ice boxes.

It could've been a very profitable decade for someone if only they'd thought to build a proper wind tunnel in Australia 10 years ago!

Now speared off course and out the gate:

QuoteIndeed, the continual links are a source of frustration as there is simply no truth to claims there are active conversations.

Suggestions given to Speedcafe were that, since the promoter knows nothing about Supercars' claims, the conversations must be with the F1's commercial rights holders.

However, investigations on that front also came up empty. While there are plenty of discussions happening, sources revealed none of them involved or related to Supercars.

Quote from: Bloopy on September 17, 2023, 06:07:05 PMNot sure about Mostert's car, but it looked like Randle's car was damaged in Ford-to-Ford contact with a DJR car, and obviously Waters' car had secondary bad luck due to another Ford's bad luck. Just a cursed brand really!

just saw a post from Thomas... broken belt while they were in the top ten around lap 50
After it happened they showed a replay of the two cars side by side and potentially knocking wheels, so perhaps the 55's whole steering system got knocked around.

Also on the steering topic, it's amusing to see Brodie saying "I kind of like my steering rack that I have at the moment" in the below article. Usually drivers like new parts!

+1 imaginary smite to you for being 3 months off the pace Mike. :P

Qualifying sets up a fun Sunday for the #97 & #25 who'll need to pass a lot of cars. Almost as if Shane's brain was already elsewhere.

A setback for SVG is often good motivation for him to bounce back and win things. ;)

Quote from: stevo qld on September 02, 2023, 08:39:45 PMI would keep Waters and punt all 3 of the others, then put an upcoming Super 2 star in the second car.

The problem could be that a Supercar 2 star from 2022 has become a Super1 dud in 2023 (arguably) they may not want a repeat performance or should that be: lack of performance.
I guess performances in enduros will help the picture, but surely they'd be mad not to keep Randle.

Quote from: skaifeman on August 21, 2023, 08:54:19 AMI'm also confused about the Reynolds penalty... he seemed further up than Waters/SVG the day before? Difference was a car ended in the sand.
The stewards the day before suggested that if any overlap was established you can't turn down.
I just got around to watching this. I think the only reason Reynolds got that overlap was that he gave Feeney a bump at the previous turn, so that probably contributed to the penalty. Still, Feeney would've been wise not to turn in so aggressively and throw away valuable teams championship points to Erebus!

I watched both of Shane's outings this weekend. Nice job today considering he reported having the throttle sticking somewhat!

Just when Sydney seemed like about the first event this year where multiple Mustangs passed Camaros towards the end of races. I heard snippets of Ben Croke in the press conference saying there was so much more work to do though.

Quote from: skaifeman on July 31, 2023, 09:24:52 AMThe rule needs to return to the black and white - no contact and no impeding (any braking at all).
It's far more strict and works against those 'it was only a rub' incidents, but it also leaves absolutely 0 grey area or interpretation.
I don't think you can eliminate the grey areas completely. The contact may be a slight brush of a bumper that can barely even be confirmed on camera. Or a little tap of the brakes may've been unnecessary or even deliberate to give a rival a penalty. It sucks seeing a driver's race ruined in the pits so we don't need more of that.

Quote from: Bloopy on July 20, 2023, 09:37:31 AMEven though Van Gisbergen thinks it's a dumb idea and isn't enjoying his car, I could see him being keen to stay in 2024 just for the opportunity to race the circuit in a Supercar.
Unlike McLaughlin, I could see SVG still open to doing a wildcard appearance even if he's based in the USA (calendars permitting).
Doesn't sound like there'd be any room for wildcard entries on the plane to Singapore.

That previous warm period just over 100,000 years ago is called the Eemian. Back then, Europe was populated with its versions of elephants, hippos, rhinos, bison, giant deer etc. For them the warmth was paradise compared to the subsequent cooling that killed them off. Other species are prospering as it warms again, though ones we tend to dislike such as ants, cockroaches and toxic algae blooms.

So perhaps we can concede it's less about saving the planet and more about enlightened self-interest and continuing the achievements of our species. It's sad to see other species go extinct, but it'd be even sadder/more stressful if climate turmoil leads to massive displacement of humans and civil wars etc. Yeah, the planet is going to change anyway, but seems like we have good reason to try everything to slow the change down.
