Speedway / Engines
December 07, 2023, 12:10:29 PM
For many years speedway engines (sprint cars and super sedans) has been the domain of the old 350 Chev.
When sprint cars went up to 410 Chevs still were on the top step.
I believe part of that is the cost.
The one thing Chev did was make their engines for a reasonable price.
There's been some really quick Fords but the cost has been substantially higher with parts also being harder to get.
Well, in the US Toyota have joined the fray, I'm guessing using their Nascar engines as the base.
They have only built 8 so far but all reports are very positive about them.

Two of the engines have made their way to Australia with James McFadden.
It could be very interesting.
The worldwide fridge manufacturer is really getting in to racing development.

Barry Ryan's alternative seems better. The winning team keeps the no 1 spot and from 2 onwards they fight each round for the rest.

Quote from: mikeamerica84 on November 27, 2023, 10:25:51 AMHEY!  Something completely different.

Were there five bonus points awarded to the fastest lap getters this round?  Crompo and Skaifey were harping on fastest laps all weekend.

Kye?  I need you right now, my friend.  :)
Not for this event, no.
Thanks for your expert input, Kye!   ;D

On another note, Chaz was docked five seconds for his touching Feeney going into the turn in Race 2.  Did not Feeney touch Chaz and get him a tad amiss in the previous turn?  Chaz's bumper cam shot showed it to ME.

But it is only me.

I thought the same but they didn't blow up about it.

Already linked with Charlie, getting the 2010 band back together:

No surprise there.

Let's hope his team manager role goes better than the last 2 attempts?

If we use the last THREE attempts, I think there just might have been a number 18 Courtney championship for Charlie Schwerkolt as the main shareholder in DJR.

The records show that djr won the championship to which you allude.
No mention of Charlie.
You're hate must run deep.

Well we're on the second last meeting of the year and a Mustang has finally won a race properly.
Wonders will never cease...   ;D

I think it's 410 - 420m of clay Sonic.

DJRTP went more extreme than previous teams who had employed similar tactics.
There was no subtlety about it which turned out to be the problem.

Anyhow, none of this is really relevant to the topic.

Ilya and Ducky are 2 of his most lasting roles.
He always appeared to be a thorough gentleman.

RIP

Quote from: muz on September 17, 2023, 02:17:17 PMThe Grove team cars look good - but I don't understand why they did it? Do they have a link to Moffat?

Or did they just like the idea of doing it?

Raising funds and awareness for Dementia Australia.
Isn't that enough?

Highline Magazine -
The Sydney Sprintcar and Speedway season has been thrown into turmoil once again with the latest breaking news confirmed in a post by the Sprintcar Association of NSW that "Unfortunately the season, which was due to begin on September 23 at Eastern Creek Speedway (ESC) has been cancelled.
Irreconcilable issues between the NSW Government and the promoters has allegedly been the catalyst for this action.
Rumours have been swirling behind the scenes for the past week or so that this action was imminent and it appears now that it has come to fruition with the promotional team allegedly being denied the rights to continue into the coming season or at the very least being unable to agree terms and being told to vacate the premises immediately.
Whether a new promoter/body/association can be found, approved and appointed in time to save the season remains to be seen without even considering whether any person or association would possibly even be suitably placed with the personnel and equipment needed at such short notice.
Further to the dilemma is the fact the NSW Sprintcar club had no country series or non-ESC events last season due to a number of factors and whether any of those tracks is even willing to negotiate with the club, let alone host a race meeting is yet to be determined.
At worst, Sydney will suffer through yet another season with no metropolitan speedway racing despite the Government committing huge money to build the landmark venue after the forced demise of Parramatta speedway.
Stay tuned, more to come – no doubt.

Quote from: Trevor on September 15, 2023, 05:01:19 AMGeez, I thought T1 had returned lol

No Trev. I just thought it would be easier to put the news here rather than start a new thread.

The venue, well the track, has been very troublesome since day one.
Whoever decided what to build the track surface out of made a massive mistake and the whole track needs to be laid again is what I'm hearing.
Perhaps Zac or someone else a bit closer knows more.
