Quote from: fordman on March 25, 2024, 12:48:22 PMOnly watched what FTA channel 10 showed  :(

Racing very tight, one little error by any driver cost them place. Qually was everything.
Parity was hard to pick as it appeared very close and driver errors prevented any parity issues being obvious, but to me I think Ford are closer than 2023.

I couldn't be bothered trying to work out what Ch 10 was showing, every time I turned it on there were a panel of heads talking, so I found other things to do

I need to confess that most open wheelers bore the shyte out of me, as do pissant support categories, you know the ones they put in just as fillers, the ones where people turn their backs to talk about something else, go for a piss or go and get something to eat

yeah got sck f hearing the same story over and over, coverage was ordinary when nothing on track

Well time certain Race 4  :( no SC but lost 3 laps due to F3 delay well I suppose that shows SC is the support act.

close racing, but one driver error and you pay bigtime as Watters found out.

Quote from: stevo qld on March 01, 2024, 12:46:37 AMI cannot agree more that I am sick of all the parity talk.

It seems to me that 888 Engineering, with GM assistance built a car with a well credentialed engine, built by a racing engine specialist and it works.

Ford was very slow to see deficiencies in their product.

Having identified that the Mustang had performance issues, they should have used their many resources and used the Camaro performance as a baseline and improved the Mustang. It is easy to blame Supercars management instead of taking responsibly for one's own product input.

This is largely what was done to the body at Windshear.

Rob Herod builds excellent engines, but perhaps lacks the racing performance know-how which Ford could have provided.

If WAU hadn't had a pit stuff up, then I have no doubt that Mostert would have led the race and won on Sunday.

Similarly, Waters did not perform on either day and was a back marker already when he had the wheel mishap.

After all, Tickford's number 2 driver got a top 4 finish. Two Mustangs and two Camaros in the top 4.

Personally, I have been distressed that the Mustang was not up to scratch.

Also, there is no parity with drivers and there are only a handful that consistently place in the top five.

One example is Erebus that performed extremely well with A class drivers, yet have only B class drivers this year.

Agree getting tired of it as well but its getting closer.

however could have FORD done what they have done this year last year???

WAU pit stop didn't cost them time they completed the tyre change under cover of the fuel, the back up tyre had 6 laps on it, they lost because Brown had 2 sec less fuel to put in, Chaz buggered up the chase on his in lap and chewed up his 2 sec gap.

Just 12 months ago Skaife was calling from on high we had Parity yet 2023 showed otherwise, same noise again just one race in.

A engine tweak and they are there I believe.

QuoteSTABLE SUPERCARS TV COMMENTARY TEAM

Stable. Isn't that where they keep a horse's arse.?

https://autoaction.com.au/2024/02/20/stable-supercars-tv-commentary-team

At least they have relegated Lowndes to the supports. He's probably the biggest waste of TV money ever.

Now if we could just lock the main commentary door after Crompo, Chad & GT go in the year will be tolerable.

It's a shame that 'tolerable' is the benchmark.

I like Crompo in the box calling the race.
He needs a Leigh Diffey or even Matt White beside him, Chad Neylon might be the right guy too - someone impartial and without direct (Supercars) hands-on Motorsport history. Someone whos profession is 'commentary,' and can appeal moreso to the broad public.

Larko and GT in the pits are great. Lowndes has been a bit of a dud, not clinical enough.

Then the talking heads between each session and doing interviews could be your character type's, your Skaife/Ingall/Murphy/Ambrose - literally the V8 SuperStars cast. Even a Fabian Coulthard or Michael Caruso would be good IMO.
They can give both mechanical and driver insight, along with some banter. Talking the hypothetical stuff.
Courtney and Reynolds may fill this role, if they add a touch of seriousness to their work.

I think Jack Perkins does a good job

Quote from: AlbertM on February 05, 2024, 03:18:40 PM"My way or the highway" has never served anyone well. I can understand keeping fans in the dark to pretend they have a strong united front. But Sponsors paying the bills should know why last years champion is AWOL.

Sponsor leaving put it beyond doubt this is more than just a personal (Brodie) issue.

I had hoped it was a personal issue, but now coca cola has bailed I think its not so, if it was pretty sure CC would have stayed.

The longer this goes the worse its gunna get

sadly its the bad thing about media, hear a rumble rush to print get everyone guessing and then finding out there is another reason for the situation, had they waited we would have had the truth rather then hyping everyone up over what's simply not the case. The pressure to be "first" with so called "breaking" news can make fools of outlets.

Quote from: AlbertM on November 07, 2023, 07:04:54 PMNo doubting Erebus and Brodie have lifted. But beating 888 and SVG on merit? Had chiller-gate not happened it would be a different story. Add in several rivals have been hamstrung and the championship win feels a bit "meh". Same energy as when Rick Kelly won in 2006.

I don't agree Albert, Much more energy than Rick's win. Brodie has had a far more dominant year than Rick did.

All RK did was circulate for the year and accumulate points, not a bad strategy in the end, but to come away with the championship without a single win was also an inditement of a points system that didn't give enough credit to winning.

Brodie on the other hand has had a pretty good year and taken it up to one of the most dominant teams in Supercar history.

I rate it far above RK's very meh championship.

I think Ingall also won without a round win? Seton as well??? but its amount the number of points you have at the end of the day doesn't have clauses that say must have round win etc.

Plenty of "doing a Bradbury" in all sports doesn't and shouldn't detract from the winner. Plenty of "ifs" and "buts" in sport.

Brodie will deserve the win should he do it, its not over yet, just look at last night world cup cricket as what can happen.

Anyone else notice in Cams interview he had to "whisper" the "P" word????

I have often believed the teams, drivers, commentators, have been warned off from saying it.

I think in 2018 one team crawled over the mountain whilst under SC to escape a double stack??? wonder who that was???

Well if Ford reps were in the crowd on Saturday at top 10 shoot out time they might be a little concerned?

the local announcer was trying to gee the crowd up with a bit of banter, called for all the Camaro fans to give a cheer, it was a halfhearted response, so he gave it another go and a slight improvement. Then he called for Ford fans to cheer, was a almost silence, this took the announcer by surprise and tried again and similar results, this again shocked him and was baffled by the lack of response, so he quickly moved on. Sunday he tried again and had a little dig at Ford fans about the day be fore's efforts and got only a slight improvement. Again he was baffled by the lack of response.
The general feeling I had was Fords fans were not hopeful of a win and it showed by their lack of enthusiasm?
Had Ford reps seen/heard this they may see something????
Will say though the cheer for the Camaro wasn't all that loud neither. Yet the announcer both local and TV kept claiming huge rivalry etc. What I noticed was more support for the individual drivers.
