Speedway / Re: New Sydney Speedway

Although a long video I think that it pretty well sums up the situation in regards to the new speedway.

Cannot see 888 lending a car when they have an advantage. There is no benefit to helping your competitors

General Discussion / Re: ALP v LP/NP
April 11, 2023, 10:58:01 AM
The whole voice argument has descended from what could be a worthwhile debate about what is the best approach into one that is now nothing more than a race argument. I can only see this turning into a ugly and divisive issue with both sides no doubt hurling abuse at the other and turning it into a race argument rather than a genuine discussion on the merits of the voice.

I think that 99% of the reasonable people in the Country would not generally see an issue with the idea of a voice representing first nations people putting forward the argument on behalf of first nation people on issues that affect or are relevant, frankly it is not overly different from the various lobby groups that exist other than by putting it in the Constitution it will become a requirement to consult.

My real question, and one that I am still trying to understand is what exactly is the Voice made up of and how are they consulted. If it is just one or two ex politicians who claim to represent everyone then I have an issue with it whereas if it is a genuine consultation and involvement with community then I for one see it as a good thing.

So, Tassie is the standout for the Libs, they must feel fantastic at the moment, every mainland State and Territory is Labor including Federally - who said that never happens?

Perhaps we need to form our own country  ;D ;D

But in all seriousness, we are only a liberal state because the people in the north are swinging voters and are willing to change the government. The ones down south are either Green or ALP voters with a few liberal votes in between.

NASCAR / 2023 NASCAR Series
March 16, 2023, 10:48:00 AM
I just thought that I would start a thread for this years season.

Big news out today, Hendrick has been hit with big penalties for a change to standard issued parts.

They have been docked 100 drivers points for Larson, Bowman and Byron, 100 team owner points for all 4 cars, the crew chiefs have been suspended for 4 races, they also fined each team $100,000.

anyone want to take a punt on what the changes will be between the Sat and Sun race while they are still figuring out what the cars are supposed to be?

Ah but we have been assured that the cars have achieved parity.  ::) ::)

IndyCar / Re: 2023 IndyCar Season

I still find time to watch the highlights of the series as they show a good half hour on youtube a few days after the race. It is not bad but for free coverage there is no complaining.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: Gen 3
March 03, 2023, 01:39:21 PM
The whole Gen 3 thing has been a mess. The idea of parity between two cars that have differences is frankly impossible as each has strengths and weaknesses Supercars can try all they like to get them close but there will be differences as the Ford or Chev fans rightly want to see some differences in the body shape and other factors which inherently leads to issues over parity.

The issue I have is that they are testing a product and still haven't decided what the final thing will actually be. Although unlikely it could be completely different to what we are seeing at the test day or at the rate we are going they will be making adjustments on the fly part way through the season.

They have had plenty of time to get this right and appear to be stumbling at the first hurdle and then wonder why the fans get so pissed off with the series.

Even down here in Tas you would hardly know that it is on. There has been minimal promotion up in the North which would suggest that there may not be big crowds for it either.

GT World Challenge Australia / Re: 2023 Bathurst 12 Hour

A intriguing race up front that changed during the day but was really a race between about 4-5 cars at most.

Also, set a new distance record at over 2000km! that is a huge amount of racing in 12 hours and with not a lot of safety cars.

It is a nice look from the Haas. I hope that this sponsor sticks around for a bit longer than the last few major sponsors that Haas have had in the past.

It actually reminds me a bit of the Verizon Penske indycar's as well.

Thanks for the thread Mike, it was a good reminder to tune in. The coverage, at least when I was watching, was heavy on Prototypes, but not much on GTs. But it was still cool to watch!

you tend to find that with a lot of the multi class stuff particularly the WEC as they focus on the race up front and often forget the rest.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: Silly Season 2023

It really makes you wonder if any of the teams are going to be properly ready for the season ahead. With a shortage of parts and limited time to go with the other reported problems I do wonder if all teams will make it to the second test either.

Repco Supercars Championship / Re: 2023 Calendar

Races are fairly evenly spaced out which is not a bad things if teams have large repairs to have to do.

I bit of a surprise that neither of the two tracks that are the traditional test venues are on the calendrer, however, to have one and not the other would lead to arguments no doubt.

I don't suppose anyone knows if anyone is showing the GP. I have seen somewhere that it appears that 7 may have the rights for it??

Scrap that it has been confirm that 10 will have the coverage.

the Island coming up and one title can be decided this weekend, the rest will be up in the air right to the end I think.
