I think that Betty will be very pissed off with being stuffed about by drivers. I think that is at least 5 who had contracts and left, albeit one still alleged.

I would not surprise be if she sells out her share of the team. Barry may keep his share though.

Maybe it would be a good idea to retire with a winning year.

Ecurie Escargo are on the hunt for a new driver.

Bert, driver and mechanic for the last three seasons, has decided to fulfil a long-held dream.

Bert, who will henceforth be known as Bertha, has had his fun gun removed successfully but feels ongoing Hormone Therapy will interfere with his driving ability.

Bertha will continue, when able, as a mechanic and has hopes of a return drive in the enduros.

QuoteSupercars news 2024: Reigning champion Brodie Kostecki set for shock split with Erebus Motorsport

Supercars could be dealt a seismic blow with speculation defending champion Brodie Kostecki is in talks to part ways with Erebus Motorsport.

In a massive bombshell less than a month out from the start of the season, Kostecki could split from the team he won the Supercars crown with last year amid rumblings of a falling out within the squad, headed by chief executive Barry Ryan.

It's understood last-ditch talks were being held on Tuesday in a desperate bid to convince Kostecki to stay, but there was the possibility of the 26-year-old pulling out of the final year of his contract with the team.

Kostecki and his management did not return calls on Tuesday, while Erebus was not making public comment.

Kostecki claimed his maiden Supercars championship last year, ending the reign of Shane van Gisbergen, while also helping Erebus Motorsport to its first teams' championship.

It would be a crippling loss for Erebus, which already lost its other star driver Will Brown to chief rivals Triple Eight as van Gisbergen's replacement.

It would also be a massive blow to the category after the departure of triple Supercars champion van Gisbergen to NASCAR for 2024.

Todd Hazelwood is tipped to be in line as Kostecki's replacement at Erebus if he does not drive.

Jack Le Brocq signed on last year as Brown's replacement.

More to come...

This will be a test for Ludo.
He is credited with greatness when surrounded by the superb 888 racing organisation.
He is credited with greatness when surrounded by the superb DJR Penske racing organisation.

Let's see how he performs with a small team and will it be better than his DJR results after Penske departed.

There are quite a few more changes at HAAS and their Nascar offshoot.

Gene Haas must have eventually decided that it is not a good idea to keep losing.

They have had superb mechanicals and engine from Ferrari and a Dallara Chassis.

For some reason it just did not come together under old management.

Guenther Steiner has been farting higher than his arse for years and commenting on the faults of more successful teams and management, i.e. All other Teams.

Quoteboth Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison are expected to be off-contract this year – which means an opening at DJR is, contractually at least, a realistic outcome.

https://speedcafe.com/kai-allen-targeting-2025-supercars-seat/

Anton's efforts this year and his timing for 2025 will be interesting.

He apparently has a 50% chance of missing out on a DJR drive, if he wants one. He may have other plans.

NASCAR / Re: NASCAR '24

QuoteFor Shane van Gisbergen to be able to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in Daytona, he must contest an extra race beforehand.

In order to gain the necessary approval to take part in the second tier opener at the famous Florida oval, the superspeedway virgin must contest in the ARCA Menards Series.

The effective fourth division race will be held on February 17, the same day as the Xfinity Series opener, United Rentals 300.

It is unclear which team van Gisbergen will race for in the ARCA Menards Series, having been signed to race for Kaulig and Trackhouse Racing in the Xfinity and Cup Series respectively.

Personally, I think NASCAR Daytona are over fond of their precious rules.

SVG is a multiple Australian Supercar Champion driving comparable cars.

He is already a Top tier NASCAR winner.

He has also raced in a lower class.

He has extensive experience in a lot of cars around the world, including the USA.

Frankly, to use an Aussie expression: "NASCAR officials must be up themselves.

And on top of that SVG is in the Top 20 drivers in the world as rated by Autosport.

How many NASCAR current drivers even get a sniff of the Top 50?

Quote from: AlbertM on December 21, 2023, 01:13:23 AMI do believe Trevor's point was, is that the drivers look for the better money.

Yes agreed, but only when at the top of their game.

Anton was driving for a mid-field team (now top of the field) and he was offered a chance to drive for a top of the field team, now less than top field.

The opportunity would have seemed so good that money would not have been a primary consideration at the time.

Bad timing!

Maybe 2024 will provide an upgrade. Anton and DJR will be trying very hard to make it so.

PS: Was Ludo a great help???

Model Collectors and Memorabilia / Re: Supercars models
December 13, 2023, 12:24:47 PM
QuoteThere have been some curiosities to the Monster backing of late, though, due to a crackdown on licensing from the US-based parent company.

Waters merchandise sold by Tickford this year doesn't feature any Monster branding, while Tickford's model car partner Authentic Collectables was forced to discontinue all replicas of the #6 Mustang.

It astounds me that Monster are restricting what is, in effect, free advertising on collector cars, a lot of which are purchased for the Monster demographic.

I really hope for your sake that that wanker Deputy doesn't get the job

It would appear that you will be dissapointed.

The Union Bosses have decided that it is Miles and Dick as Deputy, allegedly.

It all smacks of putting bandaids as patches on a sinking ship.

These are the same bosses that gave Anastasia her walking notice, allegedly.

We can expect a bunch of ministers to get the flick too and be replaced by the rising union members in favour with the bosses, after a bit of you support our guy for this and we will support your guy for that.

Remember that Supercars is a private travelling roadshow.

A lot of their shows are not even available on TV unless you pay.

As owners, it is their right to make decisions.

General Discussion / Re: ALP v LP/NP

Just my opinion:

Anastasia is generally respected for the steady governance of Queensland for some time,
However, the Union Bosses have called time. The ALP is after all the political arm of the Union movement.

The Conservative side has been very weak and without a leader that cuts through to the voters.

IMHO, without change, the ALP will lose the election in October next year, or at least go into minority.

The Olympic spending is the Elephant in the room.

Currently, there is a proposal to demolish the Gabba oval and adjoining historic school and build a new stadium at great expense. This decision is not popular in the Area. If the demolition goes ahead, it will happen in the lead up to the election and be very obvious.

Now, just recently, the Government has fielded a proposal to redevelop the Ekka oval, at great expense. This is a temporary facility that will be partly torn down after the games. The majority of the costs are proposed to be paid by the AFL and Cricket organisations and the Brisbane City Council. All three have said no.

If we also consider the proposal to build a temporary swimming facility in the Roma Street Parkland and then demolish it, leaving no permanent facility for use by the public and sporting teams.

The problem for the Government is that the inner-city suburbs have become a hotbed for Green support, as demonstrated at both Federal and Council elections. If we add in the disgruntled Labor voters, then the ALP will very likely lose seats.

To avoid an election rout, the Government will have to backtrack on these projects and others and so Anastasia had to go.

QuoteAnnastacia Palaszczuk says she will resign as Queensland Premier at the end of the week.

At a media conference on Sunday, Ms Palaszczuk said she would also retire as the member for the Brisbane seat of Inala at the end of the year.

She has been in state parliament since 2006, took over from Anna Bligh as Labor leader in 2012, and became premier in 2015.

Anastasia has way too much class and has way more achievements.
