QuoteAnnastacia Palaszczuk says she will resign as Queensland Premier at the end of the week.

At a media conference on Sunday, Ms Palaszczuk said she would also retire as the member for the Brisbane seat of Inala at the end of the year.

She has been in state parliament since 2006, took over from Anna Bligh as Labor leader in 2012, and became premier in 2015.

Quote from: AlbertM on November 26, 2023, 06:39:15 PM323 points clear, Brodie and Erebus has thumped SVG and 888 in the end.  The cruel twist is Brodies final score, 2,888.

HAHA!!! So 888 got up there anyway :P

How good was the vision of Betty :)

And Brodie ALMOST taking out the trophy during his burnout too

maybe just coz it is Friday but there doesn't appear to be much in the way of patronage in the shots of the crowd areas?

??

Not sure what happened to the first thread? Seems to have disappeared somewhere.

A tad moist yesterday but drying track for the day so far today.

Big crash in the utes yesterday... esp the crash into t8 wall and then a secondary crash for the same ute at t9 when he got collected. the vision was a bit inconclusive as to what happened... did the 2nd car lock up and just slide into him? the little vision that they did play the ute seemed to almost go over sideways when it got t-boned!

Did anyone bother with Bathurst TCR event? Anything report-worthy? (I was at Historic Sandown so didn't get to see any of it... and even if I wasn't I still wouldn't have seen it being on Stan)

Quote from: stevo qld on November 11, 2023, 06:53:23 PMThe Calendar gives very little encouragement to general motorsport in Australia.

The number of permanent circuits visited in each state appear to be:

NSW. 1
Qld. NiL
Vic, Nil
SA.  Nil
NT. 1
WA. 1
Tas. 1

Thats just four and an additional 1 in NZ.  >:(

So South Australia, and the Bend, are not the only places hard done by.

Vic does get 1 with Sandown

but 5 race weekends out of a 12 round series on proper prepared racetracks is abysmal!

confirmed no Bend for 2024... but speculation now that it will get the enduro in 2025 (which one would assume will kick Sandown out again... seriously??)

https://www.supercars.com/2024-supercars-calendar

dropped to a lousy 12 meetings for the year... pretty disappointing really...

add to that Vic now has 4 operating race tracks and we get 1 event (not including the GP which they are just another category filler)

It will never be equal. 1 team will always do better on the day and win.
Can't have 25 or 24 (next year) first place trophies, however maybe that is the generation ( whatever it is now) and expectation we live in these days

Never said that hsv!

Just that the cars should all be equal so that all drivers have a chance IF they are good enough. The whole Oprah thing of everyone gets a medal can get a royal flush I reckon!

Just having a pondering moment...

So now they are about to spend $X to ship the 2 cars to the US for PROPER aero testing.

So if that is all done to full effect they will come back to Oz perfectly equal.... in aero.

But will it really be equal? 2 completely different engines with very different mechanical architecture that they have also been fiddling with all year as well. How do they plan to fix that issue so that the cars are actually equal?

Outside of the body shape and engine I think everything else is identical? (well except maybe for the bits that set the Ford's on fire early this year)

one further comment on the crash... submitting video evidence your honour ;)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bve2kDiAtWE

@ 39 secs you can see the yellow flag. that is driver's right in direction of travel... could look damning for Scott as it was clearly out...

BUT pause the video of Scott's in car @ 58 secs and the flag is not yet out as he is taking the left hand entry to the chicane... so the flag came out as he was mid-way through the chicane... no way he could avoid an incident he didn't even know had happened!

zero blame can be apportioned to Pye if the flag had not even come out at the time that he was passing the point.

the defence rests LOL!

Quote from: skaifeman on November 01, 2023, 09:55:31 AMWas on the Mountain last weekend, for the BLCC Speed Weekend.
Lots of Supercheap signage around the track and town already and tents etc are starting to go up for the International in a few weeks.

wonder if the tents will stay there as Supercars are now going to make it a 4 month first round at the mountain... ;)

Quote from: madbugger on November 01, 2023, 07:15:57 AMTh incident also highlights the issue of drivers still travelling at full noise to catch the train when there are yellow flags and/or a safety car on track. I have believed for a long time that some kind of system like pit lane limiter needs to be implemented when full course yellow is in play, both from a safety point of view and fairness to those that have created a time gap at the front of the field.

don't disagree that drivers seem to ignore the yellows way too often.

only issue I have in this instance is that they would have only just been bringing out the flag for the spun car. hard to blame Pye for not slowing sufficiently. if Golding was 6 seconds ahead of Pye prior to his spin, and the flaggies didn't bring out the yellow til he stopped (which I believe is the normal correct procedure) then the flags would have come out with maybe 2 seconds before Pye got to the incident by which time James was into his flick spin putting both cars out.

other cars got safely by James where he ended up so perhaps it was just all too rushed which led to the demise.
