Repco Supercars Championship / Re: Gen 3

Quote from: AlbertM on December 10, 2023, 10:39:44 AMAero testing is underway in the US. Supercars have put out a vague video as expected. It looks like they are going with post Bathurst Mustang kit. I hope more technical detail comes out eventually.

Gotta laugh though how Supercars are making such a big deal out it. Not only trying to drown out their woeful introduction of Gen3. But are one of the last major categories to test in a wind tunnel.
The teams didn't help either. Teams should have been saying before this year that Gen3 needs wind tunnel testing.
It wasn't until months after pre season aero testing that DJ started to mention it.
Of all the clever engineers you would think...

If Anton doesn't do something soon he'll be an also ran and disappear off the radar.
Certainly fading away as Fords rising star.
The question is how long Anton, and even Ludo will remain at DJR?

Cool to see another Kiwi winning, taking over from SVG. Next year will be quite good with the dominant forces (SVG & McLughlin) gone.

As for the Chaz/Feeny incident, I suggest you listen to the V8 Sleuth/Bairdo podcast, who explained it well.

I do wonder if SVG was a sore loser in the final race? Has the team announced what if any issues they had with the car?

Certainly different. Does anyone know what the bonnet is meant to be? The blue zig zag?

Only 4 times in history has the (my wording is poor) chaser who is 2nd coming into the final weekend beaten the driver that was leading, out of 55 championships I think it was. Listen to the V8 Sleuth podcast. SVG has the odds against him based on history.

Quote from: muz on November 11, 2023, 07:54:55 AMTough going for Supercars since the end of 2020.

It's now lost 3 of the best drivers in the last 20yrs across 3 seasons: McLaughlin, Whincup, SVG.

TV broadcast not as strong as it once was.

Someone needs to bring back the buzz around the sport.
Tony Cochrane needs to be asked back.

As for lost its 3 best drivers, not sure how that's tough going for the sport? I'd say Lowndes leaving was the bigger deal. Newer drivers will step up.

Quote from: skaifeman on November 16, 2023, 07:00:50 PMAnd gone from his current role... after the wind tunnel testing.

Already linked with Charlie, getting the 2010 band back together:

No surprise there.

Let's hope his team manager role goes better than the last 2 attempts?

What's the worst place finish Brodie needs to finish, if SVG wins both races? If so, Brodie could circulate and finish around the mid pack?

But a pretty good effort from not only Brodie but Erebus too.

Both Erebus and 888 will have an unknown next year. 2 new drivers. Hard to say how it will play out.

Looks like madbugger has just finished his school homework and here he is  :P

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the wind tunnel tests. What happens if the Mustang/Camaro has had an aero advantage? Will they fix the cars there and re test?
Looks like madbugger doesn't comprehend sarcasm

Quote from: LG on October 28, 2023, 06:53:52 PMWell we're on the second last meeting of the year and a Mustang has finally won a race properly.
Wonders will never cease...   ;D
it will be nobbled before the last race, don't stress
Can't happen, won't have triggered the parity review, don't stress

These drivers are professional race drivers, they know well who is in the lead at the 150m mark.

While we didn't hear Skaife say "it's on for young and old" we did hear Crompo say "he's that close he can read the part number"  ::)

And Cam didn't sulk for a change   8)

I'll be watching on TV. I went 4 years in a row (2011-2014). If I went again I'd like to view from the beach chicane grandstand.

I'll be looking forward to the following rolleye moments on TV :-[

Skaife saying "it's on for young and old" and Cam Waters sulking about his car.

Quote from: SetonFan on October 14, 2023, 08:02:23 PMI don't mind having a sprint round at Bathurst, in fact I attended in 2021 and may well do so if they do it again, but this sounds like a very poor outcome. Assuming Newcastle is off and NSW must host, should be SMP under lights for Round 1 and then ideally add in QR/Winton/PI mid-year. A night race in early March should do better than August anyway without competing with AFL/NRL etc.

Would be pretty cool, but organised quite late?

But they need SPRINT RACES. Nothing long. Like 10-15 laps a race type thing. No pit stops.
