Latest rumour is he's going to unite with Ludo and Xiberras.

So does Slade or Golding lose a seat in this instance?

Quote from: LG on January 31, 2024, 07:06:29 AMIt seems to me that Barry Ryan strikes again.
During the season there was a couple of quiet rumours of unrest but the fact that both drivers were going really well sort of scuppered them.
It appears that Will was the smart one negotiating his release to join 888 Racing.
I don't think Brodie will end up anywhere else, certainly not this year.
It seems everyone is blaming Barry? I like his no bull**** hard man approach to sport, if it was that bad neither driver would have won the championship last year. And Betty would have sorted it out anyway.
Will going to T8 was simply opportunity. Anyone would take it.
Reynolds leaving was probably sponsor related.

If it isn't Barry Ryan then who is it?
How about no one?

Unless I missed something, but I haven't seen anything about a "mental health" issue except in Peter Adderton's post?

Not according to Pete. He is very happy with his current drivers

Referring to Shane Howard saying "We understand the gravity of Brodie's decision and the challenges he may be facing at this time", ie. Supercars making it appear as if Brodie alone had an issue going on, when actually we can be pretty sure it's bigger than that.

I really think that Brodie and/or his management team really need to say something to tap this on the head.

I'm not a fan of Erebus, but it sucks that after having won the championship they don't get to have the Number 1 of their car. I have always thought that the system is wrong when a driver can swap teams and take the number with him. The driver is only a small part of the operation and without the support of the rest of the team would not have been the champion.

Bit of a different situation in this case to Courtney bolting of into the distance to a team that got to display what they didn't earn.

Just reading between the lines, I think either Betty or Barry are really digging their heels in on this one and it's looking like they might not release Brodie from his contract, which is a massive shame if that is what comes about. I can understand why they are doing it, they've been screwed over quite a few times by drivers breaking contracts, which then begs the question, Why?
If you don't like my comment, ignore it. If you don't know how to ignore it, message me and I will be only too happy to demonstrate how.

I would dig my heels in the same and not release him.  Let him sit and think about it for a year as the Red Bull drivers  and the newly improved Ford camps make ground and have success.

I do not know what the bottom line is here, but if Brodie is mad....... let him pout.

Maybe it is a money thing, can't see top dollar being paid for Brodie in his early years nor would they have expected championship success after a decade of **** all and a Bathurst win.

Maybe Brodie is requesting more coin or the opportunity to earn more coin as no doubt he'd feel a little underpaid now his a champion in a "parity" series as professional as Supercars.

First: I see this more of a personal issue and health problem for Brodie.

He has been given support from more experienced drivers in Australia and Overseas.

Shaw and Partners, who are well known for their support of mental health have, by co-incidence, pulled their sponsorship from Erebus.

Boost a personal backer of Brodie are critical of Supercars press release and comments and are no longer negotiating for their future event sponsorship extension.

Some of these people are closer to Brodie and may know a lot more but is it really any of our business anyway, albeit it is of interest.

Secondly: Betty, the majority owner of the Erebus team, has consistently over the last decade stated that she does not want any driver to be racing for her team if they don't want to, even if there is nine years to go on their contract. She has always given a release even when disappointed. Brodie should have no trouble getting a release if he asks for it.

Reports over the years would indicate that the management are presiding, allegedly, over a fairly caustic work environment, with a lot of key people moving on.

One can only wonder why experienced and successful people want to leave Erebus.

Erebus, the namesake of the team, is well known to be "The God of darkness".

QuoteErebus Q&A
Who was Erebus?
Erebus was one of the primordial deities in Greek mythology, emerging from the primeval void known as Chaos. He was the personification of the deep darkness and shadows, representing the profound and enigmatic aspects of the cosmos.

Who were the parents of Erebus?
The parent of Erebus was Chaos.

Erebus is literally imploding.
Shaw and Partners are gone: https://speedcafe.com/erebus-loses-big-sponsor-amid-kostecki-saga/
SCTR now also gone: https://speedcafe.com/outgoing-erebus-sponsor-explains-exit/

Unsure if these are just sensationalist headlines. I read elsewhere that Shaw just chose to not renew (obviously because of the drama), opposed to 'pulling' sponsorship.

The article also states that Coke is going too, having been removed from the Erebus website (SCTR still being shown).
Are any personnel leaving?

A bloody shame. I think we all wanted to see if Erebus could keep up this year... it seems to be in their nature to rebuild every 4-5 years.

It's official. Coke has left.

Whatever is going on there, it's big.
