I think I like NASCAR

If I leave Youtube on Google TV, it will continually play videos until you stop it. It has latched on to the official NASCAR channel and will play highlights and full races dating back decades.

I always gave NASCAR a lot of schtick for it simplicity in appearance...turn left, turn left, turn left...

Have to admit the skill that the drivers use to get around. Especially with 40 odd cars within feet of each other. The crowds of the 90's and early 2000's were insane. Still can't tell what  is a Chev, Ford or Toyota at a glance but learning who is driving what. Can't make heads or tails of the scoring systems/playoffs...etc.

I can see why Supercars want to imitate NASCAR.

I reckon supercars should just run NASCAR's, today's race would have actually had some passing.

I've certainly run my eye over it far more since SVG has been shipped over.
It ticks the box for 'entertainment.' But it does feel highly gimmicky with the various ways to achieve points through the stage racing, or race wins etc. It really depends on what each driver needs to achieve in the chase.

In terms of proper door to door battling, what we have in Supercars is still better. This likely comes from our ruleset though, battles over there wouldn't last 2-3 corners because someone will eventually have the other off.

Dale Jnr came out recently saying that NASCAR has now gone too far to 'sports cars' even naming Supercars. The old NASCAR's were "perfectly imperfect," and produced better racing. SVG also brought up their own parity issues, which are bigger than what Supercars had.

Sounds like they have the same issues as we do here.
