Australia's Worst prime Minister

I saw in the 'Silly Season 2025' thread, stevo say (and I quote): "Paul Keating is best remembered as the worst Aussie PM from 1946 to 2006, arguably, but certainly my belief at the time as an ardent Labor supporter..."

As an ardent follower of Australian politics, I've kept an eye on topics like 'Australia's Best (and worst) Prime Ministers" for decades, and I can't remember seeing Paul Keating on any serious list of 'Worst Prime Ministers' although I have seen him regularly featuring on  lists of 'Australia's Best Prime Ministers'. Overall, PJK seems to rate about 5th to 7th best, although I doubt John Hewson would agree. The runaway winner of the title of 'Australia's Worst Prime Minister' usually goes to Billy McMahon, but stevo decided to make a cut-off point of 2006, which means Abbott and ScoMo escape his list. OTOH, Albo is starting to give them both a run for their money, so as an "ardent Labor supporter" (well, he was once, when PJK was PM), stevo must be pleased that he couldn't include Albo as a candidate.

perhaps PK might go down as the most arrogant PM? (although that does seem to be a requirement for many political jobs these days regardless of position sadly)

I was a committed Unionist and held executive positions at Local level and was often a delegate to the State conference.

In 2001, Telstra gave me a lot of money to go away and the income from that has sustained my wife and I ever since, without touching the capital.

Hence, I only referred to the time up until I left the Union and became a Capitalist. ;D

Since then, there has been little to recommend any PM, essentially a pack of backstabbing Yobs. I was going to say "Backstabbing Bastards" but that would disrespect John Gorton, a national hero.

By the way, John once stood up in Parliament and said "Entirely through his own actions, the Honorable Gentleman has acquired a status such as I inherited purely through the actions of my parents'. (As recalled, but possibly not verbatim).
Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

John Gorton is on some of Australia's Worst Prime Ministers' lists, and as he was the PM who was replaced by Billy McMahon, I can understand why, but he was replaced more because he was steering the Liberal Party towards the centre while others in the party were pulling it to the right. Arguably, he was one of the Liberal Party's better leaders, but wasn't PM long enough to really make his mark. (I don't think 'Unionist' and 'Capitalist' are mutually exclusive - more a state of mind, but seeing them as separate could be an explanation.)

what makes Albo so bad?  What Mr Potato Head and his loyal band of Right Wing Muppets say about him?

Also an ardent follower of politics.

For me, the worst in recent memory was John Howard?  He failed to make the best of the good times he had.  Governments must operate as 'not for profit', in other words they should neither have money stashed away or be in a **** load of debt. Howard should have spent the money he had stashed away on infrastructure, they are always in need.

Not a fan of Rudd, mostly coz he backed down on his promises.

Turnbull was a let down as he let the Right rule him

Abbott was just a doddering fool and only got elected coz Labor was in a mess - Giving Prince Phillip a Knighthood - WTF?????  I will never forget his hate talk towards Gillard, he showed his worst

Since you asked:  It has nothing to do with Mr Potato Head and his loyal band of Right Wing Muppets - nor has it got anything to do with the Left Wing Muppets who support him for no reason other than he's a Labor PM. Albo is not cutting through. His policies are all over the place, he can't articulate them, and whenever he's questioned, he goes on the defensive and shuts down. I've listened to him so many times when he's trying to explain his position on whatever matter it happens to be at the time. He stumbles, he stammers, and when he gets his words out, he says the wrong thing. He should be on a dream run. He came to power after the decline of Scomo and Co, their lies, deceit, underhandedness, RoboDebt and the rest of it. He's been on steady decline since election night. Look at the figures. He's gone from strong popularity to falling way behind Mr P. Head in almost record time. I would have thought that almost unachievable. For one example, check out his policies on immigration. He's managed to get Labor voters and Coalition voters equally offside at the same time on the same policy. Probably because no-one can work out what he's trying to say. Try Googling something like 'Albanese anti-migrant'. I seriously doubt that he's anti-migrant, but that's the impression he's creating. Forget the out-of-touch stuff like buying a $4.3M home when all the political talk at the time was about Australia's housing crisis. Let's leave that stuff to SkyNews, 2GB and the rest of those who pretend they're news when they're only RWNJ opinions. I keep wanting him to succeed, but... he just ain't got it. (My opinion only - but it seems like a lot of voters are coming to the same conclusion.)
